  • Gloomy Post Superbowl Monday

    Pretty gloomy foggy morning today.  No one in group seemed to have lost sleep over the Atlanta defeat last night.

    We started with the disclaimer and a slow mosey to oak alley.

    We paired up in team of two them performed Team BLIMPS Suicide Runs.

    -One partner ran suicides to four light poles doing 5 Burpees at each light while his partner did various types of Lunges(side, forward, backward) then the two switched.

    -One partner ran suicides to the four light poles doing 10 Merkins at each light while his partner did Imperial Walkers then the two switched

    -One partner ran suicides to the four light poles doing 5 Walk Out Plank Jacks at each light while his partner did various types of Squats (sumo, close, wide) then the two switched.

    25 count then slow mosey to the row bars. We broke up into 4 groups of three and did the following 4 stations:

    -15 merkins to shoulder taps (for the count)

    -hillbillies

    -rows

    -right and left leg step ups

    After a circuit of that we had a 10 count and mosey to the pavilion.  At the pavilion we broke up into 4 groups of 3 again and did the following 4 Mary exercises:

    -20 v-ups (for the count)

    -leg raises

    -dying cockroaches

    -lbc

    We finished with 20 count superman to 20 count mission impossible.

    Mosey to the flag, number off, name-o-rama and prayer.

  • G-Spot’s Monday AM special

    14 Pax for G-Spot’s spontaneous Q. He realized at 525AM that he was the Q. Thanks Douille.

    We had a long mosey to the Levee and the Fly.
    We did 11’s. Burpees at the top, Squats at the bottom.

    Moseyed to the birdwatcher. We all wondered if El Wire and GSpot had conspired to make the Human Centipede happen again in front of the ladies but we were spared the humiliation.

    We partnered up. 1 did a lap around the neutral ground. The other did an exercise under the gaze of John James Audubon.
    Rd 1: Box Jumps (Don’t pull a Bongo)
    Rd 2: Dips aka Freak Nasty
    Rd 3: Inclined Merks

    Then we moseyed over the big field.
    We circled up and did a quick ab workout to 10. All 14 guys.
    Gspot – 10 imp walkers (First Q’d exercise in cadence)

    Harm – Big Boy Situps
    Nip Tuck – Mtn Climbers

    Back the flag with 5 min to spare so we went to Oak Alley.
    IN the ALLLEY we…
    backwards run to a light, then turn and sprint to finish. We changed light posts each time — we ran the alley 4 times.
    Back to the flag COT.
    Excellent prayer by G-spot to get the week started and to be thinking of others and how can we make their life better.

  • Muscle Wednesday

    We worked to shake off the No Burpee Monday stigma to my Q but alas it was not Monday and burpees were on the agenda.  Strong cardio was not as we focused on muscle groups. I’m writing this sore from head to toe two days later.

    This is how it went:

    Edge of Park warm up: Imperial Walker, SSH, Mountain Climber, and Hill Billy’s. Mosey over to the pull up bars to crank out three sets of 10 BURPEES, Pull Ups, Mountain Climbers, and Squats.  The 16 strong pax broke down nicely into 4 groups of 4.

    We then relocated over to the covered tables for dips, right and left leg step ups, incline mercs and repeated. At the WWI oval we putined, Hello Dollie, LBCed, Dying Cockroached, and LBCed. Short walk over to tree alley for a there and back of two poles of lunge walk alternating with two poles of backward backwards jog.

    PAX was 16 strong and Whoop did a great job with the prayer.   Until next time….

  • Winter is coming

    It is clear I know nothing about Q’ing! Thank you to Duey for volunteering me on the darkest and coldest morning while he lay fast asleep in his warm bed nursing a spaztic calf muscle.

    We left with 11 pax and headed towards old man river, passing the hens of Audubon Zoo paying for their time in the gloom.

    We began with:
    20 SSH
    20 IW squats
    20 Inclined Parker Peters

    We moseyed on towards the fly, to the soccer fields. At the field we modified a BLIMPS
    Bear Crawl over and backwards on the termite mound. Beware the grass was a little slippery
    Lunges across the soccer field
    15 IW
    20 Mericans
    25 PJ
    30 Squats

    As a train was coming we sent one ahead, Quick Draw, to reserve our spot at The Labrynth. As we tried to catch Quick Draw, L-wired assured the pack that it was only an engine and we didn’t need worry about being trapped on the fly. As we approached the road by Children’s Hospital we realized the folly of ways. The engine was pulling many unseen flat cars. So we waited on the incline for the cars to pass. We spent this time doing
    20 inclined LBCs
    20 inclined Ivankas (Inclined Trumps / Putins / Russian Twist)
    20 inclined LBTs
    20 RFM

    after the train finally passed we reached the Labrynth where we had no sign of Quick Draw. We did a little more Mary with:
    20 LBCs
    20 Dying Cockroaches
    10 Doctor Ws.

    The pax headed off with an Indian Run to find Quick Draw who was waiting at The Bandstand.

  • Resolution post #1 Monday is Funday

    After a very rainy weekend it was nice to get back out in the gloom and work on my commitment to post 202 times this year. A very gloomy – gloom!
    7 PAX post which is a solid showing compared to last Monday. It was nice to have Mulligan back in the PAX and Tclaps to Brown Bag who has been posting regularly lately.

    Warmup – NO mosey just a quick COP – SSH x 25, Hillbillies x 25, and Shorty 4 position squat arm circles/claps x 10 each.

    Then a long run to the fountain. Half the park. Almost a mile. If you got to the fountain first you had to start a BLIMPS and wait for the 6.

    At the fountain we did Incline Merks, Bulgarian Split lunge L, Dips, Bulgarian split lunge R, Decline Merks, Power Step Up Right, and Power Step Up Left. I missed 5 on the left leg so I saved them for later.

    Then we walked back to track. At the track we half the loop back to the Flag – we passed the FLag and stopped at the Pavilion. At the Pavilion it was a gassy 6MOM.

    6MOM – we did Peter Parker x 20, LBC x 20, Parker Peter x 20, LBT x 20, Cross Fit Merks x 15, Dying Roach x 20, Shoulder Taps x 20, Russian Twist x 20, Plank Walk x 10, and Flutter Kicks x 20

    We finished off with one BLIMPS just to make sure that everyone got in a daily dose of burpees.

    Always a pleasure to Q. That was my first post out of 202 this year. 1/202. Seaman had a nice suggestion such as instead of a posting resolution. An EH resolution or a commitment to Q resolution. Let that marinate and come up with some suggestions.

  • The return of the Quick Draw

    Unlike the intro to Jingle’s BB. No one showed up I pulled up to a very gloomy, foggy AO at 525 with one PAX waiting. That was Quick Draw. Chilling and stretching. As 530 approached we realized we were the only 2 to post the day after Christmas.
    Its funny because it has been a few weeks since Quick Draw’s last post and the guys that were asking about him – were home asleep in their beds by QD and YHC got our loop in the Skinny.

    So off we mosey’d to the pullups. At the pullups we did X 15 SSH, IMP Walkers, Peter Parkers and Pullups.

    Then we mosey’d to the golf course station and there we did FAT BOY YOGA led by Quick Draw. Some downward dog, some child pose, but the gaps were filled with Peter Parker push ups and Should Tap push ups. The killer part of this COP was plank to squat and then walking to back down to squat. Need to incorporate that in my next workout.

    Then we mosey’d to the fountain. At the fountain we did x15 derkins, incl-erkins, bulgarian split lunge, and finished off with some dips.

    Then we had a long mosey to the row bars. At the row bars we did x 15 rows, incline merks, squats and parker peters.

    We mosey’d to the flag for a 615AM finish!

    Thanks Quick Draw for not leaving me out in the gloom alone! I appreciate the push.

  • Cyber Funday

    13 pax showed up ready to get the Christmas season started off in style and I did not want to fail to present at least one two-for-one deal.  We welcomed back Landing Strip from his trans-Asian vacation and look forward to some MMA style workouts soon.  Whoop also posted a Cotter and the pax was hoping he’d been training his bowels since his last post- alas he was in shelter #1 during the disclaimer.  Let’s mosey

    To bring it home we did a sprint/jog alternating run back to the virtual flag.

    Nameorama and intentions.  RY paused for a moment to reflect on the passing of his great-grandfather who remained spry and active until his recent passing at age 96!  What a great life.  Ball of man for our prayer.  Complimentary to my last prayer regarding our spiritual need for each other I reminded myself and the pax that God governs all and we should live each day in His honor.

  • Ring of Fire in the Labyrinth

    14 PAX posted for a loop around the park in the 40 degree gloom. The coldest day yet post-summer.
    I was glad to see Walleye uptown again and of course a visit from Splash who has been busy as hell lately. Glad he is back! Also Liberace posted for his first time without the guys who Eh’d him. Nice!

    Then we took off for the field across from the zoo.

    Then we mosey’d through the movie set and up the levee to the FLY beach – across from the river.
    We lined up facing the river –>

    Then we ran to the HILL. At the HILL we did 5 burpees on one side and 20 pickle pounders on the other side. Rinse and Repeat for 10 Minutes.
    Long Indian Run to the edge of the FLY.
    At the top of the levee – full run to the labyrinth.
    At the labyrinth we settled in for some MARY.
    LBCs x 20, Dying Cockroach x 20, Russian Twist x 20, V-Ups x 20, Y,T and Ws x 20, Superman to Bow. Then we ended her with some Ring of Fire. Bear Crawl left/right/center and back. Merkin wave x 5

    Then we sprinted to the FLAG. We closed with the COT.
