Today was YHC’s birthday Stomp and first post at the Stomp. You don’t get to pick the day on which your birthday falls.

Then, YHC asked for some Mary b-day presents from the PAX:

25x Slow Dying Cockroach IC (increasing cadence) from Kimchi
25x Wife Pleasers IC (eyes closed) from Amnesty
25x Tin Snips IC from Fracsac

  • 610 Stomp #79

With the threat of the Great Flood of 2017 looming, seven men got out of bed knowing it was going to be a beatdown. In preparation of the Tough Mudder, we headed to the track:
    -one lap (1/4 mile)
    -10 x burpees
    -one lap
    -20 x merkins
    -one lap
    -30 x squats
    -one lap
    -40 x LBCs
RINSE AND REPEAT UNTIL TIME. Probably averaged 3.5 miles…a good time was had by all…

Countoff, namerama, announcements (by someone else), shoutouts, prayer. SEE YOU TOMORROW!!!

You either get better, or you get worse… you never stay the same” – Professional Athlete / Coach

A Pax of eight (7 men & 1 K9) met around….nothing…. where are the Shovel Flags?!?  Does the Uptown Pax use them for picnic blankets or warming cuddlers (e.g. Snuggies) at their AOs?

It would make sense due to colder temps we are experiencing this Wintummer.

    I’m off topic…apologies… let’s get to it, but first….DISCLAIMER….

    The Thang

Typical bayou route, but turn around after 10 minutes.  Stop every 6 min for a round of Merkins.   I believe the whole Pax made it to bridge on Bayou St John to turn around (Tclaps). After the run, the Merk count was 90 (3 sets x 30 Merks).

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, and we need to look good for our ladies, YHC explained the 2/14 routine, which was 2 burpees / 14 merkins.  We did a round of this at the track entrance to bring our Merk count to 104.  Quick mosey over to the track.

Sprint Work:  Pax sprinted 100 meters, performed the 2/14 routine, walked 50 meters, moseyed 50 meters, repeat.  We did 3 laps, which equals 6 rounds; and it brought our merk count up to 188.

    COP #1: 6MOM

    20x Lazy Boys IC
    15x Putins IC
15x Lazy Boys w/ Arm Raises IC
15x Lazy Boys w/ Arm Raises & Knee Curls IC
    8x R. Leg Curls & Raises IC
    8x L. Leg Curls & Raises IC

Pax believe YHC makes this stuff up…sometimes… but in reality, the credit has to go to Shaun T. Either way, it sucks….and that’s the point!

Back to the track.  We did a 40 Merks / 4 Lap Challenge for the remaining 10 min.  Pax completed this easily.  Merk count to 228.

Since we had a VSF, we gathered at the track entrance due to time, where we held the COT, which included Countoff, Nameorama, and Prayer (for the sick, families of the sick, and for all to respect one another.)

    Moleskin

The Pax at the Stomp definitely got better today!  They were flying through the park and around the track.  The track team even raised an eyebrow or two this gloom!  Best of all, Cowbell was sucking wind:

Kim Chi is still raising the bar for most consecutive post in 2017.  I believe he surpassed 40!  To some, that may be respectable, but what’s better than 40 you say??  Yes, it is in fact 50!  I mean, you don’t get “respect” until you’re in the 50 and older club.

  • 610 Stomp #77, 6 Flights of Stairs

A fitbit watch sets several goals for one to accomplish in a day.  A certain amount of steps, so many calories to burn, be active for so many minutes, and climb 10 flights of stairs. YHC lives in a slightly raised 1 story house.  Almost every day all goals are met except for those stairs.  So, what does YHC do?  He calls City Park, his council woman, his neighborhood association, old friends, high school acquaintances, the mayor, all the way to the Commander-in-Chief (via twitter) for access to Tad Gormley stadium so that the PAX can conquer the stair goal.  YHC was so confident in his ability to gain access to the Stadium that he had already formed a playlist of inspiration stair music.

    • Stairway to Heaven
    • Spiral Staircase
    • Halfway Down the Stairs
    • Staircase
    • Opposites Attract

However, much to the disappointment of the PAX, YHC did not get permission to enter Tad Gormley, nor was a plan B even formed.  So, the PAX continued the traditional route and the instructions were to make your best effort to gain ground.  YHC had a PR for the 610 Stomp at 4.6 miles.  The PAX rendezvoused at the flag (in the back of someone’s truck) and sealed the deal with 10 burpees.

Tclaps to Cowbell for his 300for30 and to Kimchi for his continuous streak.

If you are participating in the Run Ranger Run Challenge, please share your runs on Social Media be it Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat, mapmyrun, etc. or all of them.  Here’s my Facebook post if you want to use it as well.

    • “This month some F3 friends & I will participate in the #RunRangerRun. Our team has pledged to complete a total of 565 miles of running, walking, biking, swimming, etc in the month of February in an effort to raise awareness AND FUNDS for GallantFew, an organization dedicated to the peaceful and successful transition from Military service to civilian life. All I am asking for is your support. Moleskin: At the end of YHC’s run, his fitbit said that he climbed 6 flights of stairs.

  • Push It Real Good

“Push it, push it real good”  -Salt-N-Pepa

Eight men of the F3 Nola PAX can now have that extra slice of king cake this week.  Why, you ask?  Cause we “pushed it real good” this morning during our usual Tuesday running workout.  YHC was on the lineup to lead and wanted to encourage the PAX to kick things up a notch from what can otherwise be an easy workout to slack on.  Before takeoff, YHC informed the PAX we’d run the usual Bayou St. John route and asked for three things:

    1. Make a mental note of where you anticipated turning around.
    2. Take that spot and add 2,3, or 4 blocks to it in an effort to push yourself more than you normally would.
    3. Quick pre-run warmup of 6 burpess cause we need something to tie the “610 Stomp” name to our Tuesday workout (a hint was given that the other 10 would be called for post-run)

We were off in a mosey greeted by cool and crisp air perfect for running.  The PAX staggered a bit and met at the end.  Sweat was prevalent so we must have done something right.  Sealed the deal with 10 Burpees.

T-Claps to Kimchi who ran 5 miles this am which is his all time distance record.  It was good chatting with you while running.  T-claps to the other PAX for pushing hard.

COT included some long winded Amnesty-like announcements from YHC and others followed by a prayer.

    Thanks for letting me lead.

  • 610 Stomp #75 – The Tetrahedron Run

Nine Men and a canine made the commitment to improve by posting for the 75th run of the 610 Stomp. YHC is not entirely sure if the canine can make that commitment, but it sounds good, and therefore it is. It was a cool and brisk morning, but this did not prevent these men from entering the gloom ready to run. After a quick disclaimer, the PAX was off, but minus one. Wait, what is that sound…..Arrrrrg! It’s Bubba! Now that we are nine strong, it is on! Of course Bubba and Rudy did their regular off to races thing, taking Rebound with, leaving YHC in the dust. Tool was kind enough to hang back, allowing for some good F2 on the regular route. After a good run, the PAX sealed the deal with 10 x Burpees. The day is always better after an F3 posting. T-Claps to Kim-chi for his non stop NYR posting!

Intentions, announcements, and a prayer thanking for the all good things, with a special request to bring unity to our divided country.

Why is this a Tetrahedron run you ask? Well, I got it from JV, and it just sounds cool. What more reason is needed? Some things in this world are not to be questioned.

  • 610 Stomp #73

We went regular route…around museum, along the bayou and turn around when you want to. YHC ran with our F3 K9, Puddles. We ran 3, while the rest ran 4.

When the pax arrived at the Virtual Shovel-Flag, we sealed the deal with 10 burpees.

A lovely morning for a nice run. The Pax questioned the commitment of Rudy to the life that is F3.

Countoff, namerama, announcements, shoutouts, prayer and off to tackle the rest of the day…

  • 610 Stomp ‘n’ Sprint

A good sized crowd appeared in the damp and muggy gloom.  Cold front on the way, temps down in the upper 50s.  Nice morning for a run.  After the disclaimer, YHC describes the morning workout: 15 mins out, 15 mins back.  Meet at the track for sprints.

And so the PAX took off, 8 strong.  We had to duck out of the way of the festive light-adorned truck, with wreath on the front grill.  Oh – that’s DaParrish!  Watch Out!

Groups split off to keep their pace.  As usual, Hawg set the standard, reaching Canal St. before turning for home.  Everyone got 3+ miles in as we gathered back at the track.

    • Lap 1: 50 sprint, 50 mosey.  Repeat x4
    • Lap 2: 100 sprint, 100 mosey.  Repeat x2
    • Lap 3: 200 sprint, 200 mosey.
    • Lap 4: 100 sprint, 100 mosey.  Repeat x2

Ran out of time before we could get lap 5 in.  Next time….  Back to the flag.

Count off (9 at The Stomp – hope we keep up the numbers this year!).  Name-o-Rama (good to see Crab Legs again – hope that 2017 brings more Crab Legs sightings!).

Finish with a prayer for the wisdom and grace to use the gift of today.

  • 610 Stomp #71

Damp air with upper 60’s temp was on tap for the weekly F3 run/cardio showdown.  Not the worst running conditions but not the best either.  As the PAX arrived we were pleased to see an FNG courtesy of Triple Shift.  Also, our trusty four-legged sidekick, Puddles, joined in to keep us on pace.   After determining that the assigned Q was not present (due to communication snafu), we quickly decided that a mosey along the usual Bayou St. John route would be plan.  Many of us “were not feeling it” that day (maybe the muggy air?) so total distance varied with PAX around 3-4 miles.  T-claps to Rudy and Amnesty for keeping our FNG company.  T-claps to those who knocked out some Mary at the end in lieu of planking.  This has become an added bonus to some of the stomp workouts.  Solid COP to cap off the morning.

Moleskin:  As I type in the #71 on this title, I realize just how many workouts F3 has held in the past few years.  It’s impressive that many of us have stayed on a consistent routine to strengthen our bodies and minds.  T-claps to the PAX for pushing each other and YHC looks forward for many more workouts to come.

  • 610 Stomp #70

Nothing fancy about this one.  YHC needs to lose some weight, so I’ve been trying to get some miles in.  Straight out and back along the bayou route as far as you can go in 45 minutes.  This also allowed the YHC, Tool, and Rudy to get some miles in against Shorty in this month’s Extra Mile Challenge (Sorry we can’t figure out the app Fracsac).  Rudy and YHC ran together and logged 5.7 miles (to the street on the other side of the I-10 overpass and back).
