  • CSCROT for Satchmo (USAF) – from Bolt

YHC dreaded the gloom after roughly a month of work travel sans DR posting and the occasional fartsack while in town so what’s a guy to do? TAKE THE Q OF COURSE…
Warmorama of the usual including Abe SLOWgodas, IW, Tie Fighters, OH and Seal claps, MNC (for Charmin’s return to the gloom), SSH all to Frac’s favorite tune followed by a mosey to grab coupons and circle at JPAX.
THE THANG: Satchmo (YHC’s 2.0) is headed to USAF boot camp 2/11 so to begin we did the merkin/BBSU qualifying protocol, Satchmo passed for his age bracket as did most of the pax, for both their and Satchmo’s age bracket, led by Space Cowboy.
    Part Deux: CSCROT (with coupons)
Since Frac continues to post and endure Rapper’s Delight, I obliged his call for an acronym to remember what the exercises were (and bonus, Satchmo is joining the granddaddy of acronyms—the military.)!
25 reps/exercise continuous until CSCROT was complete then repeat another round after a brief cooldown (some pax began a third round before time was called).
    Chest press
    Squats
    Curls
    Rows
    OH press
    Tricep press

    Return to flag, COT.

  • Fitmas Part Deux, con Roca – from Bolt

YHC saw the Q sheet open AGAIN and began to wonder what type of site Q runs the Uptowner—ah yes, that’d be YHC. Looking forward to Mayhem taking up the mantle in ‘24; it’s your time, brother!
YHC came in hot with Satchmo and then had key fob issues to retrieve the JBL, further delaying our start such that Frac had to start warmorama.
YHC entered the circle and being Fitmas season, decided Frac’s gift for keeping us on time would NOT be forcing him to consume the requisite Bolt warmorama song—many pax were pleased. All the usual stuff and then off to the rock pile to select a medium rock and off to the parking lot.
    The Thang:
12 Days of Fitmas con roca.
Day 1: Mosey across the parking lot with rock in rifle carry back and forth as days are added, SSH on the 6.
    Day 2: Diamond merkins
    Day3: Squat Thrusters, rock
Day 4: Reverse Lunges (2:1, rock)
    Day 5: Blockees
    Day 6: Box Cutters
    Day 7: Tricep coupon presses
    Day 8: Plank Jacks
    Day 9: Overhead rock presses
    Day 10: Big Boy sit-ups
    Day 11: Curls
    Day 12: Mtn. Climbers

Mr. Rogers got so far ahead of YHC that I accused him of skipping squat thrusters—nope, he’s just that much of a beast (wearing his weighted vest). At time and still completing the BD, we rushed back to the pile and then the flag, COT.

  • 12 Days of Fitmas and a Splash of Merlot – from Bolt

Christmas is fast approaching and YHC hadn’t yet treated the pax to his annual tradition: very bad singing wrapped around a beat down and today would be the day—12 days of Fitmas it is. A Kotter (Satchmo), sporting the sophomore 20, joined the regulars to fulfill a commitment to himself and be accountable—well done!
Warmorama of the usual, featuring the requisite song but this would be the only song from the usual playlist for today is Fitmas and Bolt Claus would deliver a holiday soundtrack to the pax.
    The Thang:
Mosey to JPAX for a ladder up the 12 days:

Day 1: Mosey (up the stairs and down the ramp)
    Day 2: Diamond merkins
    Day3: Shoulder Taps (2:1)
    Day 4: Reverse Lunges (2:1)
    Day 5: Burpees
    Day 6: Squats
    Day 7: Merkins
    Day 8: Big Boy sit-ups
    Day 9: Flutter Kicks
    Day 10: LBCs
    Day 11: Plank Jacks
    Day 12: Mtn. Climbers (2:1)

Mosey back to the flag with enough time for “Mary” Kwanzaa: Peter Parker Merkins and Protractors to the sound of African drum beats.
COT, thank you men for the push and accountability!

  • Frac It, I’ll Q! – from Fracsac

8 Pax kicked off the week right by posting to the Renaissance. With the Q sheet empty, YHC assumed that meant the pax deferred to the site Q. Challenge accepted!

Warmup facing the bacon with regular stuff and ending with 10 x 8 count body builders.

Route 66 Vagabond style at the lamp posts. Start with 11 burpees and work down to 1. MoT was running.

The Suck – 666 style. 3 minutes of 6 SSH, 6 merkins and 6 jump squats over and over. Call out your rounds complete.
1 minute rest then rinse and repeat. Penalty if first round number not exceeded. Lucky for the Pax, Catfish came through!

Mosey to field for some 4 on 4 frisbee passing action. Cones set up in a circle, 5 passes equals 1 point. Rules a little sketchy, but some good passes and all were sweaty in the end.

    Finish off with Sunday Mornings.

Great stuff! Thanks for posting and for the fabulous Coffeteria that followed.

  • GNARLY NUTRIA #7 – from Reluctant Yankee

Well …I found the results from the Gnarly Nutria and I thought it would be a shame to not have the results written for posterity. Sandbar was the q BUT Abandoned ship so he could do something with the family out of town. As always that was the RIGHT decision. I arrived from a 520 mile hike across Spain on Monday 7/18. I posted for my first F3 beatdown post hike in the AM. That evening I decided not to run bc I wasn’t ready yet. I watched on the sidelines with injured Wax on, Wax off. Wax on was kind enough to pick up the beer from Brown Bag which he was kind enough to DONATE! There were at least 4 beers per runner. 2022 WAS the worst attended Gnarly – I mostly blame myself since I was out of town. Then I blame everyone else except Brown Bag because he posted and DONATED the beer. You the man Brown Bag!

    Ok results:
    #1 Beiber- upt , #2 Gump – upt, #3 Couch – upt, #4 El Guapo – Wrd, #5 Tinkles – upt
    #6 So GO – wrd, #7 Rev SOX – wrld, #8 RUDY – wrd, #9 Baldy – World, #10, Pipeline – upt,
    #11 King Kong – – upt, #12 Katy – upt, #13 harry carry – upt, #14 Frac sac – world , #15 Almonaster – upt, #16 Sub prime upt #17 moby dick world

    No runners palced 18-20

Chiquita, Brynn Johnson, (GUMPS M) #2 (Tinkles M) and Brown Bag both ran 2 laps
Ruckers were BIG WILLIE +3, Strings, Triple Shift, Satchmo, Gabby, Tube Steak PVC, BOLT, War Eagle.

Congrats to UPTOWN for another victory on your home turf.
Forgot all of the mumblechatter since I am writing this in October and the event occured in July

  • MABA with some make up or lagniappe – from Hokie

It was an ever so slightly chilly, 36°, upon our arrival, so after a very quick disclaimer, we started with a 300m mosey to get the blood a-flowin’ followed with SSH, grass grabbers and arm circles before lining up along the goal line for the explanation which was short n sweet …

    Do 5 burpees,
    lunge walk 5 yards,
rinse & repeat to the other goal line…
100 yards of lunges, 105 burpees

Lunge back and circle the six so some got an extra 10 – 40 burpees

Mosey to the rock pile with the instructions to get a rock heavy enough to challenge yourself and bench press for 1 minute.

Next evolution, EMOM 5 burpees and then bench press your rock

After two minutes we rotated counter clockwise one position so we could all see who had heavy and who had light rocks 😉

15 minutes later we moseyed back to the flag for our final 5 burpees and some stretching.

Thank you for allowing me to lead!

  • Sweaty Bells: Equatorial Edition – from Bolt

24 days had passed since my trek to the Equator disrupted consistent F3 workouts and the Fartsack follies began, so for my third workout I granted Kong’s request to Q. Arriving at a timely 6:29:43, Satchmo and I moseyed to the PAX eager for a timely start, as I called out the disclaimer. Joining the circle and fumbling with the promised audio we began with suuuper-slow Abe Vigodas followed by bat wings, SSH, and shoulder taps.

From our home base at the statue we carried our bells to the equatorial region formerly known as little oak alley.

PAX were stoked to do 11s between the hemispheres starting with goblet squats at the Southern Hemisphere light poles and merkins at the Northern Hemisphere light poles. Moving south to north was accomplished like a sea lion (bear crawl) and moving north to south as a Galapagos crab (walk) for some extra misery as the music played, both taunting us and inspiring us; I did promise “minimal=zero” running.

YHC was pleased to see everyone living out Darwin’s theory: adapting to overcome.

Mosey back to our local naturalist, JJ Audubon’s statue to circle up and finish with Mary as diverse as Galapagos flora and fauna: each PAX pick their favorite core exercise and AMRAP for 2:15, nonstop. COT; thanks for letting me lead and breaking the fartsack follies.
