  • My Poor Decisions are Your Great Workout – from Glitter Balls

Holiday parties are in full swing (’tis the season) and YHC had Friday and Saturday night engagements.

It’s great to see friends and loved ones through the holidays and to celebrate with them. What’s not so great is how you feel after you celebrate.

Tool voluntold me I had the Q this morning but in all honesty, I might have picked it up anyway, it’s good to exorcise the demons after a weekend of fun and frivolity.

I’ve made it a habit in my life to find out important historical events of certain days or notable births/deaths. Fun fact, December 5 1901 is the day Walt Disney was born. I wonder what we can wring out of that.

    Warmup:

20x SSH, Arm Circles, IW, Grass Grabbers – now the blood is moving, let’s start.

    Thang:

    5 Block Burpees OYO

1- Partner Lunge Walks to top of ramp and runs back

50 Walt Disney Worlds (Wide Merkin into Diamond Merkin)
    100 Block LBC
    150 Calf Raises

2- Partner Bearcrawls to top of ramp and runs back

    50 Overhead Press
    100 Heavy Freddies
    150 Step Up

3- Partner Bernie Sanders to gate and runs back
    50 Chest Press
    100 Curls
    150 Squats

Mary: J-Lo, Penguins, Flutter Kicks (block above head), Big Boy Situps, Reverse Crunches, Box Cutters, Decline Shoulder Taps (probably 1 or 2 I forgot).

    COT.

I offered up to PAX to keep in mind the holidays are a tough time for many, especially those grieving, lonely or less fortunate. While many of us are blessed with health, family and comfort, many are not and it’s important that we all hold them in our hearts and in our prayers through this time of year.

  • Less Pax Due to Tigers’ Victory over Bama – from King Kong

I had a feeling fewer Pax would show up this morning because of the late night festivities after Tigers put a whoopin’ on Bama. I thought I saw few Pax charged out to the field and climbed on the FG post in Death Valley. Moments later, I saw pictures of some Pax at the Tchoup Yard really late in one of my chats. But few strong Pax didn’t let a football game stop them from being HIM next morning at Sweaty Bells.

Warm Ups – Self Love, Windmills, Arm Circles, Grass Grabbers, Hill Billies, Imperial Walkers, Slow Low Squats, and SSHs.

The Thang One – Partnered Up
1 – While one partner was in squat position with the bell, the other partner was bear crawling about 20 yards there and back. Flap Jack.

2 – While one partner was carrying a bell overhead, the other partner was lunge walking 20 yards there and back. Flap Jack.

2 – While one partner was carrying a bell in a boat position, the other partner was doing burpee broad jumps there and back. Flap Jack.

    The Thang Two – Dora 1, 2, 3.
100 – Bulgarian Split Lunges with the bell.
    200 – Curls
300 – Flutterkicks with the bell
While one partner was doing the exercise, the other Pax was carrying the bell to about 25 yards and back. Dealer’s Choice – Pax chooses his own exercise on the walk with the bells. I saw overhead carries, curls, overhead triceps extensions, suit case carries, etc.

    The Thang Three
We went to the wall in front of the Zoo. We sat against the wall and did the following x 2:
1 – over head carry – hold in squat position against the wall for 15 long seconds.
2 – carry the bell straight out in front – hold in squat position against the wall for 10 seconds.
3 – curls x 10 while in squat position against the wall.
    Rinse and repeat.

    The Thang Four
    1 – curls then overhead presses x 10 IC
2 – in plank position, pulled the bell from one side to the other and did a row x 10 IC
    3 – Rows x 10 on each side
4 – Hello Dolly with the bell x 15 IC
5 – Flutter kicks with the bell x 15 IC
    6 – Chest Presses x 10 IC
7 – Protractor with the bell
    8 – LBCs in slow cadence count x 15
    9 – LBTs in slow cadence count x 20

COT – We prayed for Sphinxter (quick recovery with his shoulder). We also prayed for a safe journey at sea for Dinghy. Gabby joined us at Panola Cafe for coffeeteria. I am always grateful to have the ability and strength to lead a beatdown.

  • We Only Lost One – from MANCHOVY

We started simply enough with 24 PAX and a mosey to the field in front of the zoo for a warm-o-rama which included SSH x 20, arm circles forward and backwards x 12 each, Windmills x 15, Peter Parkers and Parker Peters x 15. Then it was over to the Audubon statue for BLIMPS.

Following the BLIMPS it was over to the levee for 7s with squat jumps at the bottom and Jack Webbs at the top of the levee. Afterwards we planked on the railroad while the PAX on the end did 5 merkins, ran to the end of the line, and re-planked. After two rounds it was back to the statue for right and left leg step ups, dips and a round Mary. We lost one PAX sometime during the above.

We returned to the flag for count-o-rama with 23 PAX, the name-o-rama and welcomed FNG #Slow Poke .

  • God Save The Queen (and us) – from Tinkles

Good idea, poor execution. We ventured away from higher learning and back to our playground roots. After a warm up we BLIMPED our way down St. Charles to Daneel playground. Partnered up for some Dora 1-2-3 with burpees, LBC, and squats. Noted on the corner was the house of one of our limey pax flying the Union Jack. A moment of silence was considered but we were short on time. Indian run back the flag with modification and chaos ensuing. Oh well. Count off and namorama with a welcome back to Poboy. Blessings for a great weekend.

At WPM – we started with a warm up COP

Then we ran a loop down the stairs – and then up the other stairwell

Then we ran the stair loop
    LAP 3:

Dips, Left/Right Power ups x 20, 10- Decline Merks on your own

    Back to the FLAG
Today is 9/9 but I wanted the guys to think about 9/11 and the stairs – every time we run them I think of men who ran towards danger instead of to personal safety. I prayed for us to men of action in all situations.

    Random mumblechatter:
Where are the MAINE-IACS? Bunch of PAX on a “retreat” at Douilles house in Maine
Angie’s List had his total workout coffee clatch- dude does not stop talking unless we do 50 burpees in a row
El Wire was obsessed with Gump looking like the Villain from Kindergarden Cop
Quincy made it back out to the GLOOM
Double Dutch kind enough to join us from OUT OF UPTOWN

  • Special Teams – from Tinkles

The pax was still mentally numb from watching LSU put the special in special teams late into Skinny Eve. Despite that, 15 strong showed up at 5:30 on Labor Day for a great start to the day. The game chatter at least helped pass the time and good beat down was had by all.

Warm up: arm circles forward and back, SSH, IW, Mountain Climbers, Squats

Beatdown: ran around the loop mixing Indian runs with individual tempo work. Swept the 6 and stopped for merkin ring of fire, bench work, some Mary, and lastly 10 burpees.

Back at the flag with some time to spare and plank work.

Count off, namorama, intentions. Well done fellas!

  • Less Than or Equal to One Man Left Behind – from Tinkles

Last week we had some aggressive workouts. Llama is still somewhere on the golf course. We think he will be back. With that in mind we stayed centered on the flag but were still able to get some quality time in!

    Warm Up:
    SSH x 30, IW x 20, FAC x 20, RAC x 20, Mountain Climber x 20.

    Beat down:

1/2 mile loop with station for 30 LBCs, 20 Squats, 10 Merkins. Pax covered a range of 2-3 miles.

Count off, Namorama (Welcome FNG Wilson!), Intentions, Prayer.
