  • Simple Stomp (610 Stomp 2022-12-20) – from Catfish

Chilly and moist at the 610 Stomp with 7 PAX.

Did a simple run – 20 minutes out, 20 minutes back along the Marconi route. Back to starting point for flutter kicks (in cadence x 20), crunchy frogs (in cadence x 20), and LBTs (in cadence x 20). Did some leg and hip stretches to finish out, then COT.

  • The 5Q Foundry – from Fracsac

Doomsday was upon us, or at least that was what meteorologists across the south were claiming. In defiance of these alarms, 5 HIMs posted at the Foundry expecting gale force winds and horizontal rain.
Weather conditions were 72 degrees and muggy with a 5 mph southerly breeze.

No Q signed up and there was tension in the humid air. Pop Tart cut the tension like a butter knife goes through a strawberry pastry with a disclaimer and instructions to head to the Foundry. Once at the Foundry Glitterballs calls a Sudden Change and instructs the Pax to do a Half Murph, then asks what it consists of. Clearly this was meant to intimidate the other 4.
Tool then grabs the Q for some Core work, then one ups the intimidation factor by making us call out merkins in a ring of fire followed by 10 minutes of clockwise pax choice core work. The tension was getting too thick, so YHC had to intervene! Move to the grassy area for the following:
Prisoner genuflect followed by 1 burpee
Prisoner genuflect followed by 2 burpees
    Continue up to 5 burpees.

Scooter couldn’t keep himself contained any longer and gave the order to head back to the flag completing 10 derkins at each bench along the way. Thank all that is good we ran out of time after 5 benches….

-The meteorological folks likely kept a lot of Pax in the fartsack.
-Johnny Lawrence from Karate Kid and Cobra Kai were discussion points during the half Murph. Then it was brought up he was in One of the Guys, another 80s movie where he played a bully. He always plays a bully.
-Montana is a place Tool wants to see, mainly because he watched Yellowstone. I’ve been there but I’ve never watched Yellowstone. But we both like Johnny Lawrence. Don’t judge….

  • The Pride is Back – from Mama’s Pride

We started off the morning with some SSH, Grass Grabbers, Windmills, Mountain Climbers, and Arm Circles. Once we finished a nice, cold mosey to the base of the mountain, the Pax took part in some good ole ab exercises: LBCs and American Hammer.
As a shock to some of our visitors from other New Orleans area AOs, the Pax then did some Washington Football Team Bear Crawls up the mountain before moseying to the top for alternating sets of 45 seconds of wall sits and Derkins before heading down the other side of the mountain.
The Pax took in some Dora of 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, and 300 Freddy Mercurys (or ies, idk), with partners running back up the Mountain. After the Dora, the Pax started heading back over the mountain by doing some ladder exercises, which are the Q’s favorites. For the ladder we added a new exercise at each stop to the prior exercise. The exercises were made up of 10 Merkins, 10 Derkins, 15 dips, and 15 BBSU.
The Pax was complaining that we had run out of time for some ultimate football, so we closed out the workout with a few minutes of that. Of course, the Pax then complained that their feet were wet from ultimate football.
We closed out with the COT.

  • Death by Peter Rabbit – from Baywatch

15 PAX met in the early Monday morning gloom to get swole…and get swole we did. After a disclaimer and a pronouncement of the F3 tenets, we began.

    Warmup:
    1. SSH 25x IC
    2. Grass grabbers 10x IC
    3. Abe Vagodas 10x IC
    4. Overhead claps 20x IC
    5. Seal claps 20x IC
    6. Self love OYO
    7. 5 Blockees OYO

    The Thang:

    5 rounds

20 Murder Bunnies>25 switch merkins>walk back to start with coupon over head>25 squat press>run the loop. Each round reps for switch merkins and squat presses decreased by 5. So, the last round was 5 switch merkins/5 squat press. If you finish early, you kept doing the last round until the six finished.

Next came the rings of fire. First ring was flutter kicks with block. Static hold of 6 inches. Second ring was Floyd Mayweather with a block tap (2 is 1) with static plank.

Lastly, we circled up for some abs. 25 reps IC for each exercises, which included Freddy Mercury’s, penguins, windshield washers over block, X ups, leg raises, and American hammers.

Closed it out with the COT.

  • Old School 610 for World Burpee Day – from Rudy

12 Runners and 3 Ruckers showed up for a traditional 610 Stomp for World Burpee Day.

We all know the drill. Traditional route up and back along the bayou. 6 minute run, 10 burpees. Repeat ad nauseum. Finish with your 6th set of burpees back at the real flag (an infrequent sighting at the Stomp these days). OYO Stretching to loosen up the legs.

15 x 60 burpees: way to go PAX, we contributed 900 burpees to the overall world total!

Good to see Screwtop back in the gloom. Good reminder to all of us to keep re-EH’ing our friends who may have fallen off the wagon.

  • Impromptu Swolefish – from Catfish

9 PAX @ Swolefest this morn, Catfish at the helm.

    Started with windmills x 10, grass grabbers x 10, ssh x 20, and 8-counts x 15.

Over to the pills for right leg step-ups x20, curls x 20, left leg step ups x20, derkins x20.

Over to parking lot for Dora 1-2-3. 100 burpees, 200 leg lifts, 300 jump squats. Partner did farmer’s carry to end of lot and back. Mary waiting for the six with Freddie Mercurys, Hello Dollys, LBTs.

Circled up for a ring of fire with brick plank and merkins. Back to feet for another round of curls x20, then 8-counts x15 for the finish.

  • Big Bro’s Birthday Beatdown – from Snooze

11 PAX showed up in the humid gloom to celebrate a resounding Saints victory and get our swole on. In addition to celebrating a Saints win, I am also celebrating my older brother’s 43rd birthday today. I’ve been EH-ing him for a while now without success. I was hopeful that a beatdown inspired by his birthday might be the extra bit of guilt needed to finally coerce him into the gloom. Sadly, because he was overserved in Jacksonville celebrating the Saints win in person, my brother was not present for an FNG birthday beatdown. No matter, the EH-ing and the birthday inspired show must go on…

    Warmup
    SSHs x 20
    Imperial Walkers x 15
Arm circles x 10 (both directions)
    Windmills x 10
    Grass grabbers x 10
    8-count bodybuilders x 10

    The Thang

My brother was born on 09/13/1978, so we celebrated with a birthday-inspired Tabata block beatdown. 4 rounds of 9 exercises — 43 seconds of work with 13 seconds of rest between exercises – all while rocking out to some of 1978’s greatest hits!

    1. Blockees
    2. Curls
    3. Goblet Squats
    4. Alternating hand block merkins
    5. Overhead Press
    6. Block lunges
    7. Derkins
    8. Skull crushers
    9. Thrusters

All you need to know about how this went can be appropriately summed up by Catfish’s post-beatdown message on the LVCC GroupMe: “good lord that was fun! Save that one so we can do it again soon!” Ummm, fun… sure…

    We finished up with some dealer’s choice Mary: Freddy Mercuries x 20, Box Cutters x 20, J-Lo’s x 20, and Flutter Kicks x 21.

Closed things out with COT and special intentions for all those dealing with loss following Hurricane Ida. Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

  • A New Old Route – from Kuch

YHC took the Stomp yesterday for an injured Snooze, who fell victim to the streets of New Orleans during a Rudy Q the week before. Some may blame the street; I choose to blame Rudy.

YHC promised “something cool” in the LVCC groupme, and then was immediately forced to actually think of something cool. Cart, horse… as long as they all get there.

The “something cool” ended up being running the old route down Marconi toward the Lake, but on the newly completed running path. The running path is great, and the faster guys should be able to make it all the way to Lakeshore Drive and back along its protected boundaries. This beats the hell out of running down Marconi in the dark, under the tree cover, with little shoulder and cars going 40.

As the Site Q for the Stomp, YHC would make this the official new route, but I’m sure that would have the opposite effect, as a cascade of Q’s show up just to let me know that I am definitely not the boss of them (or anyone else for that matter). So for now, let’s just say it’s one of the available options.

We went 20 out, 20 back, and a few minutes of stretching. We were joined by Pop Tart’s pup, who has since unofficially been named Pup Tart. Credit to Saban on that one.

Pothole joined us as well, although he still needs to register on the site. T-claps to him regardless: he started 2 weeks ago and has hardly missed a workout. Pretty impressive.

We gave thanks and remembered those who are struggling. As always, this group is one of the many things YHC is truly thankful to have found.
