  • Stomp #129 – The Lone Ranger

Mardi Gras morning 2018 proved to be a day when few were up for a early morning reveille and making a 5:30am post.  The scheduled Q had to bail the night before, rumor had it so he could make a Zumba class with his M, or something.  Several other Stomp regulars dropped like flies via text the night before, all without worthy excuses.  Many of the PAX planned on making the REX run later that morning but YHC could only squeeze in an early run.  So alas, there was a PAX of one at the virtual flag on Roosevelt Mall at 5:30 am, where I gave a silent disclaimer and departed on the normal route.  YHC enjoyed a serene run out along the bayou, down Jeff Davis, and back.  I timed it to be back at the flag for 6:15 in the event of any stragglers who might have posted late but no dice.  Kept on going with a jog home and a silent COT along the way, totaling 5+ miles.  A few hours later some pics surfaced of the many PAX who posted in Audubon for the run with the King of Carnival.  Good to see fartsacking was not dominant that morning.  Great way to start Fat Tuesday.

  • Modified Monday Marsh

The Q decided to rise a little earlier to get some miles in by running to the AO. As I arrived to an empty court I could only wonder if this would be a beatdown of loneliness or if more brothers would be arriving. 0505 and no one in sight so the lone Q decided to modify a little beatdown. Let’s get to it..

    25 pull-ups

15 staggered right, 15 staggered left, 30 regular Merkins R/R

    50 LBCs, 50 FK, 50 Hello Dollies

Then the sighting of 2 F3 brothers getting in some road work.. Steve and EiEi journey past the AO. Later the Q is informed of how one hit 10 miles and the other hit 16 miles… Great job men!!

  • RED Friday Debuts at The Uptowner

Low turnout at The Uptowner this morning.  YHC had let Triple Shift know that I would cover for him as he went to Wolfpack Mountain chasing celebrity and fame.  Where was the rest of the pax? Was it the unexpected rain, the empty promise of some TV time at Wolfpack Mountain, the confusing name and parking situation at The Uptowner, a really popular workout in another locale that Roots created (and 23 people attended on this chilly, rainy day)…I don’t know.

    Warmup – SSH x 31 (Shout out to the Park’s Namesake); Imperial Walkers x 25; Choppin’ Wood x 15

The Wittman Hero WOD.  7 Rounds of

    • 15 Kettlebell swings (thanks to Little Rock)
    • 15 Power Cleans (thanks to Gibralter)
    • 15 box jumps (thanks to The Wall)

That was it, I’m not sure if I ended on time or not.  We counted off, reminded myself of the announcements and prayed out loud.  Then, inspired by Worms, we took some pics.

The interwebs say that 15:00 is a good time for the Wittman WOD.  What?!?  Liars.  It took me the whole friggin’ workout.  I blame it on the fact that I am not very strong or athletic.

Shoutout to F3 Greenwood, today was the first F3 NOLA RED Friday, a workout designed to remember everyone deployed, by completing a CrossFit Hero WOD.  Today’s workout was in honor of U.S. Army Sergeant Jeremiah Wittman, 26, of Darby, MT, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, based out of Fort Carson, CO, was killed on February 13, 2010 , when insurgents attacked his unit with a roadside bomb in Zhari province, Afghanistan.
