  • Got TAXES??? Here’s a Beatdown

With the new, recently constructed, tax payer funded workout equipment at the Mandeville City Hall playground, YHC decided it was time to take full advantage of it’s convenient location. Funny thing is, this new equipment is about 15 lunge walk paces (we found that out today) from where Shooter plants his American Flag and where we form our COT, so it’s almost as if the equipment was meant for F3 Northshore. And this hasnt been lost by our group, as nearly every week we have utlized it and have even joked about who it was intended for.

    WARMARAMA

SSH, HK, BK all IC x 15. Lunge walk to end of cars (thanks, EiEi, for parking nearly to East Causeway Approach)

    THANG

Off we go…our routine 5k through the gloomy streets of Old Mandeville and Sunset Point.

    POST THANG

We all pay taxes, RIGHT? Ok, let’s enjoy the fruits of our labor. PAX lunge walks about 15 paces to F3 Workout Equipment at the Mandeville City Hall.

PAX rotates through all of the equipment. Presses, Pull-ups, Merkins, Freak Nasties, Knees to Chest…heck, I dont even know the name of those things we were using, but it felt good.

    MARY

    Putins x 20 IC, Crunchy Frogs x 10 IC, Freddy Mercs x 20 IC.

Countoff, COT, and thanks to Zoolander for praying us out.

Many thanks to the men of F3 Northshore for following my lead and always inspiring me to become a better man.

  • Back At It

Ah, it’s exciting to be back to the month of January. A new year, another chance to join a run challenge I’ll almost immediately regret. A new year, another chance to see Shooter post to a 16º beatdown in shorts and sans gloves. And of course, a new year, another chance to don a tank top and claim the hammer at the upcoming Ivan.

But first, there’s work to do. The PAX as a whole is incredibly strong these days and YHC has some serious catching up to do. One lesson that has crystallized for YHC the past two weeks is how hard it is to actually build something and how easy it is to let it fall apart. Nothing new, of course. It applies to nearly everything – relationships, spiritual life, career, fitness, etc. Deep down, though, YHC honestly thought that hey, I might be able to leave the PAX for 5 months and return, still able to knock out 500 merkins and run 10k’s.

That, of course, is not the case.

And so, humbled, YHC eased back in with my first Q in a few months. The scramble is one of my favorites, and seemed a great place to start.

Warmorama: Toe Touches, Seal Jacks, IW’s, all 20x IC. Lunge w/ twists through the parking lot, and then off to the races.

Ran the traditional route, with one exception – Chewy thought it’d be a good idea to run the loop in the opposite direction, considering the new year and all.

Once back, YHC led the PAX over to the monkey bars, except, hey – there are no longer any monkey bars at the city hall playground! This is what happens when you’re gone for a bit. After some searching, we found a weird, arched-web piece of playground equipment near the back that kinda/sorta worked for our needs:

Partner up, P1 knocks out 10 burpees and 10 pull-ups, P2 does scorpion kicks. Flapjack.

Next, P1 knocks out 20 Australian pull-ups while P2 is doing 180º jump squats.

Finally, a quick mary of Hello Dolly’s, Flutter Kicks, and Rosalita’s (all 20x, IC). COT and Shooter prayed us out. Guys, a sincere thanks for the opportunity to lead, it’s always a pleasure to get stronger with this group of men.

  • Returns welcomed with or without receipts!!

With plenty of rain in the forecast the Q opened the garage anticipating a wet post, yet to his surprise it was only the sound of swirling winds, which left a path of blown over garbage cans spewing garbage throughout the streets and early dismantling of Christmas decorations hanging from the rooftops as I journeyed to the AO.. Anticipating a possible return of other PAX who have not posted in sometime (Turtle), Q was excited arriving to the headlights of regulars like Veteran (Steve), post record setter (Ringo) and 2 Scramble essentials in Garfield and Water Pik.. Planted the shovel flag and started the chatter amongst the PAX.

    Began our warmup with

    10 IC Good mornings, Windmills

15 IC Toe Touches, SSH followed by lunge twist inward and outward for 25 yards. Burgundy arrives as we wrap up the warmup to start our journey..

Moseyed our standard route through the debris filled streets of ole Mandeville. With steady winds and severe gusts we still managed a respectable time of less than 30 mins. Arrived back for 10 mins of work which consisted of the PAX taking to our 6 while another completed 5 pull-ups as we rotated around to each man. R/R 3 series that included LBCs, Flutter kicks and Crunchy frogs. Closed with 1 min of Merkins.

Circled up for count, announce, COT

Reminded everyone of the upcoming Crazy Ivan, which should prove another domination by the Northshore representing and preserving the Hammer 🔨 trophy!!

Also Water Pik put it out to the PAX for some F2 following his Q next Tuesday at Grandmas House on New Year’s Day!! We will converge at the Cafe Du Monde following the beatdown for some coffee and beignets to start the New year right!! That is of course for any man willing to delay their New Years resolution of tasty warm fried dough coverd in powdered sugar 😋😋…

    YHC prayed us out.

Appreciate the commitment through the holiday week F3 brethren and Returns are always welcomed!! New year = New choices

    👍🏻👊🏻✌🏻 Till the next Gloom!!

  • Run and Remember

-“A thousand tragedies a day, but the one’s that hit home are the most real.”

I heard about Lexington, SC FiA’s Diane “Digits” Wells’ unfortunate and untimely death Tuesday morning while she was doing something we City Hall Scramblers take for granted…running. She left behind a husband and 3 small children. Digits was a leader who lived the FiA principals. As an avid runner, she did everything right, wearing reflective clothing and lights, but was still struck down in the middle of a crosswalk. Her story occupied my mind while we ran.

While we celebrate Jesus’ birth and the myriad of blessing in our lives, please keep her family and friends in your prayers.

  • Strangers at the Scramble!!

The Scramble has impressed the Site Q week in and week out as of late with some great consistency. PAX have ranged from 8-10 gathering for our rountine 5k with a mix of exercises. So much so that we tend to have a PAX magically appear along the way at which another PAX Water Pik turns around to the surprise of Burgundy after about a mile in.. Conversations always prove fun and engaging with a variation of topics such as about our Saints discussing the success as of late and the need for some Fantasy football guys who need certain people to step up in future weeks as the playoffs have begun. ..

    Warmup

All IC of 10 Windmills, Toe Touches, Scuba Steve’s and Scorpion kicks..

    Thang

Journeyed the common route through the streets of Ole Beautiful Mandeville. Returning to the AO for 10 mins of a mixer of ISI, Merkin Wave, Flutter kicks, LBCs and Pull-ups. Circled up to count off and announce the future Nightmare before Christmas on 12/16 at the Mandeville Lakefront at 1300 for any PAX looking for a true punishment shared amongst brothers.. Also touching on the Crazy Ivan 1/19/19 at 2100 at which we need to pry the Hammer out of the hands of EiEi for visual inspiration to come soon..

    COT

Q prayed us into the day!

Much appreciation to the F3 men who decided to flatter the Q on this Spring like Gloom before the next cold front to come!!

  • November heat wave

    CONDITIONS

YHC arrived to the AO wearing his mukluks and balaclava this morning after all the chilly posts this week but got to dump them when the temps hit 60°F this A.M.

    DISCLAIMER

Q delivered the classic disclaimer copied from our friend Einstein: “It’s obvious that I’m not a professional.  Be safe out there.”

    THE WARM UP Proper

The assembled PAX warmed up with the following sequence, all exercises done IC.

    -Split Jacks 15X
-Toe Touches (just in time for our amigo Chewy to roll-in hot)  10X
    -Hairy rockette kicks 15X
-Ray Finkles 15X (tough to maintain balance)

    THE THANG Scramble style

YHC fiddled with his fancy fitness tracker gizmo for a minute or two. Then the assembled PAX pounded out the 5k on our usual scramble route.

    THE THANG Phase 2

Paul Cordes park has new exercise equipment which the PAX put to use after returning from our run.

First they ran through a session of “Morning Call”
One pax cranked through pull ups while everyone else did Merkins and held plank until our whole crew made it through the circuit.

With only two minutes to go before the buzzer sounded PAX finished with AMRAP of lunges.

Thanks Mandeville Parks and Rec for the new toys.  Don’t say big government never did anything for you.

    CountORama, NameORama, and COT

Thanks to Sprockets for praying us out with encouraging words of thanks and praise.

    MOLESKIN

Special T-Claps to Ringo who “hit for the cycle” Northshore style and posted four consecutive times.  He started the week as an FNG and is now a regular.

Thanks F3-bros, for the fellowship, the beatdowns and for being willing to follow my lead.

  • Guilt training before Glutinous activity!

With the looming phosphate injected turkeys, pork roast, hams, yams, oyster dressings, stuffed chickens, cornbread casseroles, pecan pies, pumpkin pies, dinner rolls, etc, etc, etc awaiting us on this day. 6 PAX managed to meet in the Gloom at The Scramble to burn some pre-calories before our most glutinous performance to come later in this day of Thanksgiving. With football, couches, conversations, naps and possibly a few toddy’s ahead we were all convinced the Scramble would make for a little less guilt as we journey out into our glutinous endeavors with hopes to only add a few unwanted pounds to later shred at another beatdown..

    Began with a light warmup

    20 IC Mummy kicks

    20 IC Butt kicks

    10 IC Good mornings

    20 IC Toe Touches

Journeyed our routine path splitting into pairs as we chatted  about the day ahead.. 👏🏻 To Jose Moreno for making his 4th Post in a row and to OD for his return at the Scramble after his Virgin Post last week.. Look forward to seeing both of you in your progression with F3 👊🏻!! Zoolander also returned for his 2nd Scramble at which he and Jose chattered early about the recent soccer contest they had played and how the next game would be different from one to the other.. Guess it had something to do with one losing and another winning the contest.. Glad to see you guys leave it on the field 😬. Q had checked the Q sheet after awakening and noticed Chewy had signed up for future Qs, which usually means a fellow PAX could post before the next Q in which he did indeed coming in hot as routine, except this time with shoes and socks already equipped.. Garfield being the kind fellow of the PAX  allowed us to keep up while holding back his own Raines.

The return allotted some time for the PAX to take too our 6 for 20 IC Flutter Kicks, 20 IC Superman’s, 10 IC scorpion 🦂 kicks, 20 IC Putin’s (American Hammers) and 20 IC Merkins..

Well wishes to our Q of record Bushwacker who had to audible on this Gloom!!

Thanks to Zoolander for praying us out into this day of THANKSgiving!!!

    Always enjoy the lead!!

    👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻✌🏻 Till the next Gloom

  • Healing Rain

It’s a different experience to be out in the pouring rain when you want to be, as opposed to when you’re forced to be. You’re awash in the life-giving waters that sustain and replenish, instead of the feelings of rush and panic that come with the mad dash from one shelter to another. You experience a youthful exuberance that brings appreciation and healing…healing rain.

    WARM (not really)

all x15 (more or less) IC:

    toe touches

    imperial walkers

    windmills

    butt kicks

    THANG

When WATERpik hit that 1st puddle, the illusion of keeping relatively dry shoes during this 5k was soaked by reality. The PAX moved along the route like a rivulette coursing down a muddy embankment in the Amazon Rain Forest towards the mighty river. As we ventured on,  Chewy and YHC  were left in the wake of the animalistic speed of the the cheetah,  the jaguar, and the gazelle. I’m certain a plethora of new neural pathways were formed as we did a regular thing in a new way. Apropo of nothing (or more likely the rain), Waterpik had to roll out early.  And so…

    MARY

We concluded with 2 waterlogged rounds of Dice O Doom! 20 freak nasties (wild Q), 50 squat jumps, 50 alternating single leg lateral hops (as opposed to 50 more jump squats), 20 merkins, 25 burpees, 50 LBCs.

    Yours truly prayed us out

Many thanks for posting in this healing rain!

  • Social Scramble

6 PAX posted at the Scramble on this Gloom. Weather in the low 70s and unfinished business (Bushwacker) would supply the motivation for the PAX to set out at a sprinters pace as we charted our course through Mandeville.

    Started out with a warmarama
Alternating IC 10-15 Good mornings, Toe Touches, Windmills, Smurf Jacks and Butt kicks..

As we departed and approached Messina Street the PAX dispersed into pairs. Bushwacker and Garfield quickly jumped out establishing a pace less desirable to some but motivating to all. Chewy and Burgundy filed in order of the second pairing and the Q and Waterpik took the caboose. Charted our standard course and returned to the AO with Wacker confirming an 8:11 pace. Q picked the Escalator from the site for completion with 10 to go.
    10 box jumps, 20 Burpees, 30 Merkins 40 Squats and 50 lunges..

We all admired the new construction of the play ground equipment at the park and expressed the joy of our ever growing tax base put to great use..

Circled back at the flag for Count off, announcements and COT..

Q prayed us into the day..

Good luck to Burgundy and Bushwacker this Sunday at the Northshore half as well as Captain Sparkles..

    Appreciate the lead

    👍🏻👊🏻✌🏻

  • Routine Scramble

Arrived to the Scramble with fall like conditions in the air. PAX quickly swole to 5 for the start of our Thursday routine. After thoughts of changing up the routine through the night, YHC decided on the regular routine the PAX has come to anticipate at the Scramble. After all Thursday is the only run heavy AO and breaks up the boot camp style workouts throughout the week. Enough tutorial time to get to work..

    Warmarama
    15 IC Toe Touches
    15 IC Windmills
    15 IC Scorpion kicks
    15 IC Doctor Ws

Journeyed our path for 3.2 miles splitting into 2 groups. Garfield was kind enough to hold back for us slower PAX as we conversed along our route.. Shared in some good conversations as Burgundy and the Pelican switched from group to group along the way. Upon return with 10 mins left on the clock we did some well deserved stretching. This was in honor of Chewy who even when he is not with us, we still remember the great value associated with this practice..

    Countarama, announcements, COT

Appreciate the post and the lead!!!

    ✌🏻👊🏻💪🏻
