  • Scrambling for Substitutions!!

With Cowbell on the Q sheet for the Scramble YHC awoke with preparation of attending knowing the EHs had been set by Waterpik and Wacker. Shortly after waking the illumination of my phone signaled there would be a Substitution on this Thursday. It was Cowbell informing he was under the weather and would need assistance.. Like a teacher in the school system he put out feelers to others as well to find out who would lead the class.. YHC won the response before the Wacker and took to the chaulk board.

    warmup

IC 10 Windmills, Good Mornings, SSH

IC 15 Seal Jacks, High Knees, Butt Kicks

Moseyed our route through Mandeville with chatter and Illumination along the way.. T-claps to Amnesia for lighting up our path as we completed our 5k and returned to the flag with a decent pace.
Closed with IC 10 Merkins, IC 10 Scorpion kicks and a handful of welcomed stretches and Yoga. Sorry for leaving out the crunchy frogs Cowbell, but I am sure the PAX will get them done remember men D-5 IC 25.

    Amnesia prayed out the PAX

Appreciate the lead and you men following till the next Gloom 👊🏻💪🏻✌🏻

  • Peer Pressure from the Pre-Tarded

A potential trio scramble featuring YHC, Hammer, and The Pelican in da Hood was dashed by the simultaneous assemblage of avengers Steve, Shooter, Akbar, and Pik.

    WARM O RAMA

x10 IC: High Knees, Butt Kicks, Imperial Walkers, Toe Touches, Mountain Climbers, Scorpion Kicks. It wouldn’t be a proper scramble warm up without a welcomed interruption of Cowbell’s tardy tendencies.

    THANG

The wind blows, the sun rises, and scramblers scramble. Thus we did through the pre-dawn-darkened streets of Old Mandeville at paces ranging from 8-9:00/mile.

    MARY

Upon returning, the PAX moved to the park’s padded workout area to spread out a little ISI amongst the Mary. x15 Jack Knife Sit Ups, x10 100s, x15 JKSUs, x10 Scorpion Kicks, x15 JKSUs, Fire Hydrants, x15 JKSUs, L/R Lizard Pose stretches, Downward Dog, Child’s Pose .

    COT

Count/Name With Friday’s all-nighter looming, and three of the 6 retarded participants present, Q threw out one last invite to the PAX. After all, as the 2019 Ragnar Trail shirt says, “It’s not crazy if we’re all doing it!”

    No takers…

Thanks for coming out to push yourselves and each other, and for subjecting yourselves to QICs whims of physical torture!

  • 7 Turkeys plucking at the Scramble!!

Seven birds flew into the Scramble this Thanksgiving Morning, with the exception of one advanced bird cruising in on a GIANT ready to pluck through the streets of our beautiful home of Mandeville.. Let’s keep it simple and sweet like pecan pie!!!!

    warmup

All IC 15 SSH, Toe Touches, Windmills, Scorpion kicks, Left/Right groin stretch and the Butterfly stretch..

    thang

PAX broke into various pace sets as YHC took the road with a returning Butt Splice to catch-up with a brother not seen in awhile..
Returned to the AO with few to spare and gave the Wacker his touch on Core before off to filling the stomach with all the goodness this day brings.. IC 15 LBCs, Flutter kicks and Hello Dollies..

count, announce, intentions for others and reflections of the many blessings we all have including the F3 Brotherhood.. COT

Big thanks to Splice for closing us in Prayer before heading to the House, Waffle House that is for a little F2 before returning Home to get the day going!!

Appreciate all you Turkeys who chose to get out the roust this Gloom and join me!!

Wishing you all a wonderful and enjoyable day!!

    Till the next Gloom 👊🏻💪🏻✌🏻!!!

  • What in the world!!

Q arrived to the sights/sounds of Wacker chatter with Steve and Waterpik. This was unexpected as the previous day the Wacker had stated the likeliness of a post was not in his favor. Considering he is embarking on a 50k solo journey to Alabama this weekend, where he will most certainly complete in under 7 hours.. YHC was happy to see the PAX swell to 7 men as 0515 approached and so we got started with our warmup before the journey through Mandeville..

    warmarama

10IC Good mornings, Imperial walkers, Windmills, Butt kicks, Scorpion kicks and followed with some isolation groin stretch left/right and iso hold cobra style..

    thang

Q announced to the PAX his vision of incorporating some back pedals and Caricoas along the route. Intentions were to keep the PAX close in proximity along the way. As we approach the Hermitage subdivision and turn to back pedal and shifted to Caricoa we notice a bystander waiting out front for a buddy with boat in tow. One can only imagine the thoughts in which ran through his mind as 7 F3 brethren greet “Good Morning” as they pass through the darkness..
Holding back as long as he can Wacker decides to break away with his competitive nature to be seen again at the AO.. Hammer and YHC chattered amongst ourselves as Steve, Pik and Akbar pulled the Six for a short period anyway.. We arrived at the pier with the illumination of someone sitting with a computer at the end of the pier and Hammer with his witty movie, song and network programming mentions the series 24!!! Steve you may wanna make a call to your producer for the possibility of a series shot close to home.. Returned to the AO minus 1 as Amnesia decided to catch an extra loop. Took to the ground for 20IC Merkins, 10IC Zoo scissors, 20IC Little Manny crunches, 10IC Right-side Nolan Ryan’s 20IC Mountain climbers and closed with 10IC Left-sided Nolan’s..

    Count, announce, COT

Q closed the PAX in prayer!

Grateful to see Waterpik back with the PAX at the Scramble!!

Thanks for following my lead men and 👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻 till the next Gloom!

  • Running in Circles

Maverick put such a whuppin’ on our upper bodies yesterday at the Gipper that YHC had preordained there’d be no burpees, no merkins, and no pull-ups at the (post) Scramble this morning.

We began with one the slowest warmoramas YHC has led, and I’ve led some pretty slow ones. Good Mornings, at an excruciatingly sluggish pace, followed by windmills, toe touches, IW’s, and lunges, all x12 IC for Mackenzie’s birthday. Happy birthday, Mackenzie, whoever you are.

Finally, time to mosey. Traditional route plus some – after Sunset Point we doubled back to hit the Hermitage loop for a second time, bumping our mileage up to an even 4.

Things went south at about this point, when Akbar went AWOL, which in turn sent Shooter running in circles, which in turn had the rest of the PAX performing exactly 127 LBC’s. This, along with some overly-chatty announcements, sent us over on time by about six full minutes. Luckily, Turtle was not present to note my disrespect of the time.

Soon-to-be-retired Garfield prayed us out and the PAX scattered like the wind. Thanks men for getting me out there today, some mornings are tougher than others, and I’m incredibly thankful I have you guys to hold me accountable.

  • YOU’LL NEVER SINK THIS BOOOOAT AH HA HAAAA!!

“It’s time for a showdown: you and me. I’m right here, come and get me!”

    -Lieutenant Dan

The forecast called for the front line to roll through about 5am, but upon waking, it appeared that we had just missed the rain and tumult. Still the flashes of lightening and the threat of hazardously unpleasant weather seemed enough to keep attendance low. Arriving to a Steve-less Scramble, YHC knew it took less than hail and sleet to foster the fartsack for some. But Ackbar, Shooter, and the reliably tardy Cowbell had other plans.

    WARMORAMA

    x10 IC:

    Imperial Walkers

    Windmills

    High Knees

    Grass Grabbers

    Slow Squats

    Butt Kicks

    THANG

The pre-ordained progression unfolded with the scramblers skipping over puddles. Cowbell specifically mentioned how getting his shoes wet would ruin his run….Oh would it now?

About 1.5 miles in (just long enough for Q to actually get warmmed up), lightening streaked across the sky and the heavens once more opened over Mandeville. The wind-whipped sheets of torrential rain, rather than ruining, actually invigorated the rambling foursome, who had by this point split into the engine and the caboose. A respectable sub-9 was had by all as the train pulled into the water-logged station.

    MARY

A rapid-fire abbreviated Mary involved x20 IC (moving directly from one exercise into the next) LBCs, Freddy Mercurys and Flutter Kicks.

    COT

Remaining comfortably on our soaking sixes, COUNT/NAME/ANNOUNCE/PRAY with Q taking the lead out.

F1/F2 coming next month at the Gipper Thursday Nov 21@6pm/6:30pm

Today was one for adventurers. Thanks for coming on this adventure with me, guys! And HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  • Whats a “Slow-Zee”?

A little chilly for your preference or, as Turbo would have us all believe, perfect running weather? Well, as YHC philosophizes, everything in life is relative, and this is simply one more example. My heart was gladdened to hear that, like myself, Cowbell feels more distinctly at home in the 70s to 80s with slightly lower humidity. Speaking of Cowbell, his suggestion of a …slow-zee…? sounded just about right just days before this year’s North Shore Half Marathon. And thus…

    WARMORAMA

    x10 IC:

    Good Mornings

    Imperial Walkers

    High Knees

    Butt Kicks

    Scorpion Kicks

    THANG

Scrambling along the traditional old MANDEVILLE (ahem, Hawgcycle) route, Q made sure to keep the PAX more or less together by instituting several location-based stops to either Freddy Mercury or LBC OYO until the 6 caught up, then start an IC 10 count. That was until the final stop at Monroe, after which the stallions were let loose from the barn!

    MARY

The Freddy Mercury/LBC count was extended back at the flag to a mischievous 26 reps before OYO 10 Burpees and 50 (with good form) Merkins.

    COT

Count/Name Amnesia, whose third child is due in December, prayed us out.

Thanks, guys, for following my lead and my shenanigans.

*BE PREPARED FOR SOME MUD-SLOPPY FUN N GAMES SATURDAY (GLOVES/TOWELS)*

  • You Can’t Always Get What you Want…(No EI, No Yoga, Nothing!)

Arriving at a “late-ish” 5:11, YHC saw no PAX and no flag. Though Akbar’s presence was detected on account of the glowing dash lights eminating from the arborous darkness of the parking lot. More mysterious and less detectable was true-to-his-word Garfield, who was suddenly spotted lurking in the shadows casually stretching. The noticeably absent Shooter would’ve been proud of the general stealth of the PAX, as Pelican was just as abruptly standing next to YHC!

Losing track of time, and realizing that King Abdication of the Echo India Order would not suddenly appear, YHC got the warmorama started with some Toe Touches, Torso twists (by which time Chewy had joined us), Imperial Walkers, Scorpion Kicks (when Cowbell arrived) and some SSH to welcome Burgundy.

With that, the PAX was off on the traditional scramble 5.1K route through Old Mandeville. A particularly pleasant run was had by all judging by the reduced quantity of perspiration accumulated in our collective shirts. The noticeably absent Shooter would have been dismayed to find the distinct lack of sweat angels in the workout area where where…

Hoping for a restorative Mary, YHC threw the baton to Chewy with the special request for some yoga-esque stretches. What the PAX got instead was 20 Hand-release Merkins OYO. Popcorn pass to Cowbell who hit us with some Crunchy Frogs. Then Burgundy lead us in some Russina-Dance Dips (real name still undetermined). Then came Pelican-lead LBCs and Bushwacker’s Oblique Crunches rounded out by more Scorpion Kicks by none other than Garfield.

    COT

    Count-Name-Anouncements-Prayer by Cowbell

Captain Liberto’s funeral is tomorrow (friday) at the Castine Center at noon, with visitation to begin around 9am. It will be followed by a full procession along 190 to Covington’s St Lazarous of Bethany Memorial Garden. If possible, show your support and honor his sacrifice by lining the route to watch the surely endless line of police, firefighters, and public.

  • EiEi no show!!

Kudos to all the men on the Northshore this week who responded to the ringing of the Cowbell this pass Saturday.. Tuesday produced 8 men with Zoolander back at the weekly post bringing out an FNG “Handy”, 10 on Wednesday with the Manny making a Gipper appearance and Maverick back in the mix as well and Thursday brought out the likes of Akbar with his virgin post at the Scramble.. All in all a great week at the posts and had our “EiEi” posted it would have been even better… Site Q took the helm to lead the PAX on this slightly less humid Gloom.

    Warmarama

10IC Good Mornings, 20IC SSH, 10IC Torso Twists, 20IC Imperial Walkers, 10IC Scorpion kicks and 5 Burpees OYO..

    Thang

T-👏🏻 to Steve for posting although not able to run he stayed at the AO completing some Merkins, Manmakers, Freak Nasties, Core, etc. etc. The 3 Stallions quickly jumped out the gate and began their galloping as 3 Clydesdale’s trotted in the back..

Stallions Bushwacker, Cowbell and Water Pik finished with a high sub 7 pace and rejoined Steve for some of that Core work as the Clydesdale’s came in around high 9s. With a debatable 7 mins remaining YHC brought the PAX over to the exercise equipment for 2 rounds of 7 various movements. 5 pull-ups controlled the rest which consisted of Burpees, Plank Jacks, Chest press, Knee ups, leg raises and Freak nasties..

    Count, Annouce, COT

YHC prayed the PAX out with tribute and remembrance of the lost from Katrina 14 years ago today..

Thanks for following my lead and 👊🏻💪🏻✌🏻 Till the next Gloom!
