  • Krazy Ivan IV: Speedy Sings, Fracsac Frowns – from The Hammer

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair…for Fracsac apparently. The man who has a folder on his phone dedicated to the Freedom Hammer was crestfallen for a second year running. Bordering on tearful, Fracsac and his Southshore breathern had to witness a spritely Speedy Gonzales hoist the Freedom Hammer in triumph after the Northshore thumped the Southshore for the Crazy Ivan IV, 257 to 153. Precision results, thoroughly vetted and audited by the governing body, are as follows:

    1. Speedy Gonzales 31:22 (6:30 average pace)-recruited years ago by Jose 10k
    2. Amnesia 33:55
    3. In Time 34:07
    3. Cowbell 34:07
    5. The Hammer 34:34
    6. Saban 35:09
    7. Kuch 35:37
    8. Steve 36:45
    9. TankedUp! 37:20
    10. RevSox 37:36
    11. Sogo 37:47
    12. Hog’s Breath 40:25
    13. Thumb War 41:30
    14. Bongo (time between 41:30 and 42:43-you should have found me afterwards Bongo!)
    15. Snooze 42:43
    16. Pelican 42:44
    17. Shooter 43:34
    18. Flea 45:16
    19. BBQ 46.35
    20. Russo 46:55
    21. Jose 10k 47:38
    22. Pai Gow 49:55
    23. Baywatch (it was raining hard, lots was happening, Hog’s Breath was talking to me…sorry Baywatch I didn’t get your time)
    24. Belloq
    25. JV (not that JV, the other one) 55:19
    26. Kenner Brah
    27. McGiver

And honorable mentions to PickAxe and Chainsaw, The Hammer’s 2.0s, who finished the first lap together in a blistering 13 minutes.

Thanks for coming out guys. You all get a trophy for participating in this unequivocally, completely stupid and utterly pointless annual competition. YHC was thoroughly impressed with the total disregard for your personal wellbeing and safety and looks forward to a repeat performance same time next year. Over and out.

  • Back to School where I don’t get no respect – from Jose10k

After a victorious Crazy Ivan, YHC was a bit sore and tired. I knew I had the Q, but had put it off to this morning. The highest form of flattery is imitation. So I stole Shooters back to school, but mine wasn’t the Billy Madison version. Mine was Rodney’s.
Warm-up: All IC to 12, ssh, grass grabbers, self love, torso twists and shoulder rolls
The thang: Perform 12 reps of each exercise for each grade. Move up a grade, perform the previous grade exercises, plus the new one. One loop around the parking garage, down to the bottom, then back up.
    1st grade: Merkins
    2nd-Leg Lifts
    3rd-Big Boy situps
    4th-Squats
    5th-Air pressess
    6th-lunges
7th-12th, didn’t make it. We dropped out to pursue our careers. COT and Moby prayed us out.

Thanks for letting me lead on this cold morning. Still no respect yet though.

  • Take it easy!! – from Shooter

5 PAX posted on the much milder Gloom before the rain and cooler weather expected tonight for the Crazy Ivan!! YHC had nothing but a modest run on the agenda..
Short warmup 10IC Windmills, Cherry Pickers, leg swings, 20IC SSH, Imperial walkers and Butt kicks..
Thang 3.84 miles for some but 4 miles for others..

Appreciate you fellas posting this Gloom..

    Until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!!

  • Panxsutawney Phil and The Gipper – from TurboTax

Panxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning which implies some sunlight which, in turn, confirms that he was nowhere near The Gipper. Conditions for our beatdown were Gloomy to say the least.

Plenty of shelter at The Gipper. After a warmup featuring lots of dynamic stretching, skipping, bear crawling, lunging, squatting, crab walking and running, the PAX made our way to the crescent for a EMOM extravaganza. Burpees, merkins, mountain climbers, Sister Mary Katherines, Apollo Onos, Bobby Hurleys, and a few different plank variations filled the rest of our time…roughly 30 minutes of increasing intensity. But the PAX weathered the EMOM storm just fine and made a solid downpainment on the day.

Thanks for letting me lead guys. Hope to see you all out there for the Krazy Ivan Thursday night.

  • Ain’t no Tabata in the back of that Honda – from Waterpik

YHC, the Hammer, and Akbar moseyed over to Noah’s Ark for some Tabata for a beginning of the week beatdown. Cool temps 45 degrees and the pax got right down to business. After a short warmarama, the pax was off, stopping at the intersections along Noah’s Ark for Tabata. at each block we did Inperial Squat Walkers, an intensification Zoolander style. 5 sets of 30s Tabata and off to the next intersection.

With time almost up, we headed back to the marsh.

Cot, announcements, and YHC prayed us out.

  • Back to School!! – from Shooter

YHC arrived to Grandmas with a familiar vehicle from the North.. Jose 10k is back and all it took was the kickoff of RCR 2022 to bring Mr. competitor out to the AO.. With mild temps and the possibility of a radio in hand Bushwacker, Qs beatdown would keep us at the Trailhead..

    Warmup
12IC Windmills, Toe Touches, Imperial walkers, Hillbillies and Arm circles..

    Thang
    Simple
    “Billy Madison”
Exercises consisted of Merkins, Squats, Air Presses, Flutter kicks, Leg raises, SSH, Lunges, Mountain climbers and Burpee’s.. Only able to get through 9th grade as our laps consisted of roughly a quarter mile around the trailhead giving those tracking mileage for RCR a total of 2.25… Of course overachieving Jose 10k and Steve corresponded for a little Prethang action, so each of them probably hit 5 miles and the anticipation of JV rucking it out 3x a day with the dog walk he will also get started on a good note over 5 for the first day… Glad to have you join in on RCR2022 JV!!

With the PAX having to dropout after 9th we will eventually need to go “Back to School!”

Hogsbreath prayed us out and shared the future shovel planting next Monday at Heritage park in Slidell!!
Recruit anyone you know in the Slidell area and join in Monday 0530 2/7/2022 to welcome in this fresh start with HIMs and Pass Interference…

Appreciate the follow gentlemen and until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!

  • Usual Suspects – from Steve

With Shooter pulling double Q duty this week, YHC felt compelled to take the Scramble. Which was good, because it’s about the only thing that got me out there that morning. Luckily, regulars Shooter and Waterpik don’t need such motivation. And Pelican has officially come out of his summer hibernation with this second consecutive Scramble post. He must be getting Ivan-ready.

Warmorama: Torso twists, windmills, IWs, SSHs, slow squats, leg swings, lunges out to Waterpik’s father-in-law’s truck.

Then we paired up – Shooter and Pik, Pelican and I – and took the usual mosey (minus the destroyed pier) with the usual chatter to give us just a touch over 3 miles at an easy breezy pace.

But not easy breezy enough, I guess, as there was still ample time for two rounds of: x20 merkins, x20 freak nasties, x20 leg swings, and x10 pull ups. After two full rotations and a quick Mary, we called it.

COT, Nameorama, and announcements – sign up for RCR and prepare for the Ivan!! It all happens next week.

Pik prayed us out, calling attention to the way F3 helps us grow stronger – physically, mentally, and spiritually – and how gift is given to us so that we may turn and offer it to others in need. Thank you for the reminder, and thank you men for the opportunity to lead.

  • BBQ, where are you? – from Jose10k

After having the Wu-Tang Clan visit the house of Jose 10k, YHC was finally able to safely rejoin the gloom. I was eager to get back to grind at the A1C, but where’s BBQ? Where o where is BBQ?
Warm-ups: ssh, torso twists, self love, grass grabbers, cherry pickers
The Thang: Four corners, back peddle the short length, run the long length. 7 merkins at each first, then 14 hand release, 21 slow squats, followed by 28 leg raises. Mosey to the bottom of the garage to do calf raises (3 per step) all the way up. Finished off with a few minutes of good stretching. Fletch prayed us out. Glad to finally be back at it. But seriously, where is BBQ?
