  • 12 Mins to Go – from Hogs Breath

You ever have one of those days, where you the night before, you text some pax’s and file gently lay out your clothes, and prep the coffee pot so that you can spend a quiet few moments to reflect and plan your Q in the gloomy peace and silence. INSTEAD you wake up and realize your alarm was silenced, and you are due to Q a workout in 12 MINS BUT luckily you set out your F3 clothes the night before HOWEVER have just enough time to rush out the door AND you frantically text one of the pax to begin a warm up if you don’t arrive in time!?!?!?
Well that all happened to YHC!

As my car skidded in sideways, I saw two pax standing looking forlorn. YHC jumped to action and began a warm up. All upper body as Murdock was confused as to why after a major ankle surgery, he wasn’t up to 100% after only 12 weeks!

Warm up: arm circles, press-press-flings, torso twists, etc.

The Thang: was created in the spot. Luckily YHC grabbed two kettlebells upon dashing out the door, so we did a round of core, then a round of upper body. While two paxs had the kettlebells, one pax would do dealers choice of an exicon. Then we’d rotate so everyone got both coupon work, and body weight work.

The 30 seconds on 30 seconds off continued until 6:15!

    Followed by Coffeteria!

Mumble chatter was mainly how hot the weather was!

  • Red Barchetta – from Akbar

The 4 Milestone Marsh regulars woke up to take the Red Pill this morning, on a seemingly cooler morning temp of 79 with 93% humidity. Which felt fine, until we starting moving.

We celebrated the Red Barchetta today, a Red Ferrari V12 that left the Maranello factory in 1947 built for racing. Also, the classic Rush song, which gets your heart rate up like you’re speeding on country roads. The song was based on a short story about a time in the future when there were motor laws, making it illegal to joy ride. A young man gets his uncles Barchetta out from storage in a barn and heads out on the open road. Another example of songs that aren’t made like that anymore.

PAX: Akbar, Moby Dick, The Hammer, Waterpik, Turbo Dog, Milestone Marsh, F3 Northshore

    Warm-o-rama
Good mornings, Toe Touches, Self-Love, Windmills, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Arm Circles

Head to the Playground for 5 Pull ups, 10 Squats, 3 rounds, OYO

Red Barchetta – Yardages were approximate

    • 75 Yards 75 Mountain Climbers

  • 5 has to be a record – from Russo

Simple and effective this morning. Much like my high school gym teachers, when YHC limits time spent on coming up with a plan, it devolves to “just run.”

Odds were Pelican would show, but much to YHC’s delight, the Splashpad was graced with 3 other HIM looking to brave the heat and move and shake: semi-regular Hammer, a semi-returning Akbar, fresh off either traversing the country (“What’s a traverse?”) or recuperating from said traverse, and a returning Splash Godfather Quarterpipe ™, who YHC can only assume has finally decided at around 80 degrees it’s not too cold to post.

    Warmup (all 10x IC)
    – Good mornings
    – Toe touches
    – Self love
    – Sealjacks
    – Imperial walkers
    – Cherry pickers
    – High knees

    Thang
Traverse to the tunnel, stopping every 60 seconds for 10 merkins and 10 squats.

    At the tunnel:

11s – donkey kicks and shoulder tap plank jacks

Mosey down, “sprint” through, mosey up.

Recovery walk/mosey back, where COT, Name-o-Rama, and prayer closed us out. Prayers for Steve’s mother-in-law, all our brothers hurting and healing, and that we’re strengthened with the Spirit to guide our day.

Tomorrow is Pickaxe’s birthday Q to celebrate his 12th trip around the sun.

Thank you to each of you for posting / reading. You all keep pushing me to be better and I’m grateful for it.

  • It only takes one – from Mobydick

A beautiful cloudless morning. Jose10k checked in from the fart sack and the usuals on the road traveling. Didn’t matter Turbodog and YHC kept the faith with 10 minute warmup of SSH CP WM GG AC ANKLE CIRCLES no count just til enough. Then the thang

Setup for 1min work 1 min rest Tabata of 3 sets of Burpees/Squats/Crunches/Merkins/Side Straddle Hop. Finish with 2min cooldown walk. POT and prayer for guidance and inspiration And done

  • It Only Take Two – from Mobydick

Apparently the usual PAX really like hot and sweaty. An amazing cool and breezy morning graces the AO this AM. Fletch and Mobydick kicked off our workout with a good solid stretch session of about 10 minutes GG, CP, AC, SSH, IW, WM etc etc
After a good loosing up came a plain old thing. We each secured a coupon and proceeded to complete 5 Sets of Presses/Curls/Rows/Kettles/Squats x10. Not the most brutal workout but it worked a sweat in the otherwise cool and breezy morning.
    Count and COT to closeout

  • Look at what the Scramble returned with mild conditions! – from Shooter

Not sure about the rest of F3 nation, but the Scramble here on the Northshore definitely had milder conditions on this Gloom. With it came the return of Waterpik.. For those that may not know, during his MVP performance 4 weeks back, showing out as the Northshore’s very own Messi, he incurred a rib injury.. Best part with his return, he EHd an OG from the Scramble days in Chewy… Which proves you may miss a few post due to injury or simply the ole Fartsack, but the Scramble is always open for business when your ready JV.. Europe interference would constitute an excused absence of course if that is where you’ve been. 😬😬
Russo was obviously taking a rest day in preparation for Saturday’s event at Fountainbleau. If interested reach out with a DM for the details. Or maybe he was sore like the YHC from Steve on Tuesday.
Steve + Coupon work = pain and misery for days ahead, especially legs.. As always Steve just smiles and laughs when YHC mentions his destructive patterns and rep counts… Gotta love the guy, although when I see his name out there on the Q sheet thoughts of said love/hate relationship come to mind.. 😩😩
    Warmup
20IC SSH, plank jacks, Cherry pickers
10IC Toe Touches, Self love, and alternating leg swings OYO.
    Thang
Took the path from last week down East Causeway to Monroe, down to West Beach U turning at lakeshore and returning to AO with 3 mins remaining for Left elbow right knee F/J 10IC and 25 OYO LilMannies..

As Wacky Chatty Wacker rushed the PAX (go figure) to rap it up, Q called upon him for a uniquely different COT.. Let’s just say if there are any vacancies out there for a Coach in your 2.0s Rec Leagues he is your guy!!

Appreciate the post gentlemen, until the next Gloom 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼!!

  • ONE Back to School Special – from Hogs Breath

With the leaves falling, and that pre-dawn glow in the air, it sure seemed like a fall day, until HYC stepped out of the air conditioning and got blasted by a 85* humid morning! The leaves weren’t falling from crisp fall air, but from dying in the heat! It was prefect looks for a fall Back to School day, but definitely not the air temperature!

Since Murdock was down in Buenos Ares, YHC choose a Back-to-School theme versus a Beach Body workout so running could incorporated. (Murdock is recovering from ankle surgery).
At 5:30 YHC began, thinking maybe some more would be late. Alas, it would be a lonely back to school day!
Warm Up – good mornings, toy soilders, world’s greatest, squat to raise the roof
First thing, yhc was excited for school, so he sprinted across the lawn!
Followed by Math class: a round of 11’s squats / merkins
Then on to Spelling with some ABCs – laying on the ground and spell the alphabet with your legs, a good ab killer!
It was time for a break, so on to Recess and Lunch! Sprint around the circle sidewalk, stopping four times for some a set of crab cakes!
Then Social Studies with Around the World lunges!
And finished out by dissecting that frog in Science class, three rounds of star jumps and crunchy frogs!
This brought me to 6:00 so I rounded out some Extra Credit, and went for a 1 mile jog to finish out on time! Thoroughly drenched with sweat, I had a good beatdown and formulated some plans for future beatdowns!
Till next time in the Gloom!

  • Recover – from Akbar

1 month since YHC’s last post. It was great to be back out in the gloom again despite the weather. Waterpik returned as well to the gloom to a heavy modified beatdown – meaning no upper body – running one of the regular routes down to the Lakefront wall, Rips, and back.

Nothing better to start the week than a run with Monday morning Mumblechatter.

Warm Up – SSH, IW, Grass Grabbers, Self Love, continuing warm up on the jog to the
Lakefront stopping for 20 Merkins and 20 Squats mixed in with other stuff.

Lakefront Wall: x20 IC – Freak Nasty, Dirkin, Squat, Step Ups, 1-2 sets

Lungewalk to Rips for 3 rounds of 1 exercise at the bottom, run the stairs, 1 exercise at the other side. Merkins, Squats, Rocky Balboa’s, Shoulder Taps, and something else.

This is when we saw a sea of cars heading toward the Lakefront. We have seen some strange things at the Marsh over the years, but this was something different. Turned out to be a FHS get together before the first day of school.

Head back to the Marsh, stopping again for 20x Merkins, Squats, and other stuff.

Returning to Moby Dick and Turbo Dog at the Marsh. Realizing with the short warm up, we missed Moby by a minute. He stayed and did 5, 10,, 15 reps on the pull up bars paired with squats and abs waiting upon our return.

Backward lunge walk to the other side of the court, front lunge walk to return.

Circle up for Mary of Little Manny Crunches, LBC’s, Hello Dolly, Rosalita, and time was called.

    Announcements –
    Pickaxe bday Q this Saturday

    Great to be back. SYITG,

    Akbar

COT, Name-o-Rama, Announcements, Prayer, in that order. We lifted up our walking wounded, school starting, those traveling, Steve’s mother in law, and the victims of the Maui wildfire, among others.

Coffee added a couple Starskys (apparently a thing in the F3 lexicon according to ‘Whacker) in Bird and Cowbell.

Even though I took us away from the breezes on the lakefront that cooled us off ever so slightly, I appreciate you all joining me on a jaunt around the area, and what you bring to your own corner of the northshore. Fine group of men this morning. Let’s do it again soon (like at the Splashpad!)

  • Campfire Sing Along at The Gipper – from Einstein

Well, it was more of a fart-along with Moby farting to the tune of “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple.
The Pax arrived to the A1C in total darkness – with the usual parking lot lighting not in operating order. And with the almost new moon, it was just plain dark.

Luckily, eagle scout Jose10K just happened to have a lantern in his car, so with that, we circled around the light, whipped out the trusty deck-of doom and we were off.
So, warm up (as if we needed to be warmer), then hit the deck with a round-robin, each Pax assigned to a suit, and their choice of exercise.

BBQ led us out with prayer.
