  • Route 66 at The Gipper – from Einstein

A pleassnt 66 degrees at The Gipper this morning.
    After a quick warm-up we headed off onto Route 66. Eleven stops where we did 6 exercises;
6 burpees, 6 Sister Mary-Catherines(2×1), 6 squats, 6 backward lunges(2×1), 6 scissors(2×1), and 6 star jacks. Moseying between stops added up to be several miles – maybe 6 or so.
Happy Birthday BBQ! – he’s 66 y.o. as of yesterday.
    Barely Legal prayed us out.

  • Welcome Back – from Russo

Temps in the upper 60s to begin. After a week of moving nothing but my legs at a slightly inclined grade (at the most) in nothing more than a slow hiking pace (otherwise also known as YHC’s mosey pace), YHC arrived at Granny’s to see it roped up in yellow caution tape like a crime scene. There were barricades up, so there must have been a heck of a celebration before we arrived. Steve and his bike were already there, ready to go after an absence that was either from recovery or vacation, or both. Things are returning to normal.

    Warmup (all 10x IC)
    – Toe touches
    – SSHs
    – Grass grabbers
    – Cherry pickers
    – Torso twists

    Thang

Good ol’ deck of death. Rep count and exercise were based on suit and number. Deck was split into four groups below.

Between groups we moseyed over to the bus stop, among the various columns, and to the stage.

    Hearts – freak nastys
    Diamonds – step ups
    Spades – durkins
    Clubs – BSSs

Hearts – shoulder tap plank jacks
    Diamonds – lunges (2 is 1)
    Spades – Monkey humpers
    Clubs – donkey kicks

    Hearts – ballerina squats
    Diamonds – SMCs
    Spades – imperial squat walkers
    Clubs – Star jumps

    Hearts – leg raises
    Diamonds – crunches
    Spades – Gas pumps
    Clubs – Crunchy frogs

COT, Name-o-Rama, and prayer to close.

Welcome relief to see Steve back, and I want to be able to say that about all of our brethren. Good mumble around horror movies, vacation spots, hiking, work, etc.

  • Girls Just Want Coffee? – from Hogs Breath

On Sunday YHC was driving back from Jacksonville Florida on Sunday afternoon, he asked his five and eight-year-old daughters what their favorite exercises were, followed by what they liked about going with M to Fia beatdowns. They replied “coffee!” So YHC took his 2.0 influence and built a beatdown!

Monday YHC arrived at OO7 and planted the shovel flag. Twinspan was already waiting, Murdock pulled up, followed by Pass Interference. 4 HIMs, ready to begin the week with a beatdown!

    Warm up.
Yhc tried out some new mobility exercises, butt kicks, mountain man poopers, and toy solder too!

Ended with COT and Coffeteria at Starbucks

  • Grannies BLT – from Akbar

    Grannies BLT

Nothing like a BLT sandwich on a hot summer day, but it’s also good on a cool fall morning. Especially after a ridiculous IPC finale consisting mostly of Chest, Shoulders, and Back. Our BLT this gloom was Biceps, Legs, and Triceps and was enjoyed at our close neighborly AO, Grandmothers House. We did have a little chest action for desert.

    Warm Up
SSH, Grass Grabbers, Imperial Walkers, Toe Touches SSH, Arm Circles, Self Love, Copperhead Squats

Mosey to the playground for 3x 5 pull ups, 10 squats

Mosey to Grannies, stopping along the way for Copperhead Squats and Mountain Climbers at each block.

    Grannies visit

  • Friday Fun Day! – from BBQ

A mighty 5 started wit the usual warm ups. As always my warm ups are inspired by Einstein’s Q’s. The thang was a ladder exercise in 4 corners. We started with 5 burpees, 10 lunges with 2 as 1, 15 Hand release merkins and 20 LBC’s in each corner. The ladder for each round around the top parking lot was +5, +5, -5 and -5. Between the East to West corners we did a star jack at every third parking lot line on one side and copperhead squats every third line on the other side. A mosey on the short North to South sides. We finished with a few good hip and hamstring stretches for this respect full PAX. Jose 10K prayed us out and added more inspiration. It was an honor to lead these fine young men.

  • Hammer as Cowbell – from Waterpik

When a set of headlights rounded the corner YHC assumed it was an appearance from Cowbell at his usual time – mid warmups. Instead it was The hammer doing his best cowbell impersonation. Comin in hot.

Good to have Shooter back in the gloom and an appearance from Jose (grumble , grumble) is always a nice treat.

  • 6,8,10,12 E.M.O.M. – from Fletch

Warm up: 15, IC. Self love, imperial walkers, Merkins, arm circles(forward and backwards), hillbillies, shoulder tap merkins, hi jack hi Jill, toe touches, plank jacks and 20 side straddle hops ic.
Thang: 6,8,10,12 emom. Burpees, kettle bell swings, squats (with coupon), Merkins. After 2 sets a mosey around the caboose. 2 more sets and another mosey. One more set and finished with some stretching. Dark Wing Duck prayed out. Thanks for the Q, see you in the gloom.

  • Grumpy Old Men – from Fletch

The usual Pax joined together at the top of the A1C. The weather has gotten better, Bushwacker still hasn’t posted on a Friday, and the average age continues to be the current AO record on the Northshore. We gathered to put in some sweat to start our weekend off the right way. All on top of the parking garage, merkins, lunges, squats, runs, etc… This is basically just a reminder for PAXminer and for everyone else: There is always a group working out on Friday mornings at the A1c!

  • Confused IPC, Apocalypse, and Coffee! – from Hogs Breath

Let’s just get this on record; This was the most confusing IPC workout…. YHC arrived. Had a white board with a “simplified” writing of the IPC. Set cones up every 10 yards, with a quick paper of what each cones exercise was supposed to be. And it still led to confusion! KISS, keep it simple stupid (or an expletive if you’re more open to that!).
At the shovel flag a quick warm up, some good-mornings, arm circles, press-press-flings, torso twists, and windmills.
The Thang: followed week four IPC “We’re Not Professionals”
Lots of grunts, lots of moaning and creaking as we threw some coupons across the field at the OO7. Some mumble chatter about the apocalypse. At 6:15 YHC had just completed the second round. YHC offered to keep the timer going, but unanimously the four pax, said “screw it and let’s get some coffee!”
    COT and coffeteria followed!

  • 13 weeks to Christmas – from Waterpik

Yes, that’s right. As Hammer pointed out, time flies when you’re, uhhhhh, workin out in the gloom. And Christmas is right Around the corner- – 13 weeks to be exact.

Beatdown was as follows: Start with 5 merkins and 30 100’s at the first block. Mosey to the next block and add 5 merkins, and subtract 5 100’s. Rinse and repeat, moseying to each intersection down to the lakefront. Head back to the marsh and we did the opposite, Merkins and American hammers.

    Have a good week, men!
