    X10, IC: Darn near every warmup exercise in the book!

    THANG

    OYO mosey towards the beach stopping for 10 Burpees at each hydrant. At the splash pad we circled up for “Raider Pride”, the football drill consisting of running in place and dropping and popping up in turn.
    Returning to the flag doing 10 Jump Squats at each hydrant, and circled up for Al Gore/ Jump Squats.
    Headed in the other direction past the Shaft and over the bridge, doing 10 hand release merkins at each hydrant (and maybe 1 or 2 imaginary ones).
    Circled up for Plank/Merkins.
    Return with 25 SSHs per hydrant.

  • A typical Splash Pad Friday – from Russo

    Return to the 60s for a temp this morning, 62 or thereabouts to be more precise. A return to the dynamic duo after a few weeks of sickness, guest stars, laziness, holidays, other. Great mumble as always, revolving around warranties, insurance, and ESG.

    Warmup (all 10x JC)

    – Toe touches
    – High knees
    – Arm circles
    – Imperial walkers
    – Cherry pickers
    – Torso twists

    Thang
    Mosey down to the lake and back, stopping each block to add on group of 10, eventually getting up to a set of:

    10 merkins
    10 monkey humpers
    10 squats
    10 gas pumps
    10 groiners

    Also included 2 calf raises up each of rip’s steps and a minute of Rocky Balboas (2x), with 10 IC freak nastys, BSSs, and step ups (also 2x) at the sea wall.

    COT, NOR, Announcements, Prayer, and we headed out.

    Quick note: Pelican and I’s church St. Timothy is having a men’s dinner and guest speaker on Thursday, 3/14 if anyone is interested in joining us. I hear that a couple men have already committed, but there will be plenty of room. Tickets are $10 and the meal alone is worth the price of admission.

  • LAST Friday of RunCajunRun – from Jose10k

    YHC, sore calf and all, decided to prethang a little early and a lot slower. 3 other younger HIMs joined me at 5:15 for the last official RunCajunRun beatdown at the A1C. Warm-ups, of course, mumble chatter, check, running…double check. 5 burpees, 10 squats, 15 big boys, followed by a 1/4 mile run. Rinse and repeat. Modify as needed or as wanted to get extra mileage in. Einstein prayed us out. Thanks for letting me lead gentlemen.   • It is done! – from Shooter

    Well the Scramble has lost some excitement from the previous weeks numbers, however 6 HIMs still took the red pill 💊 on this beautiful Gloom.
    With 7 days remaining for RCR and every man having different goals to finish. YHC made sure to at least give each man 4.33 miles this morning. Arrived with Steve already out there logging miles and Hammer stretching preparing for the run..
    0515 came and after some warmups of 10IC Imperial walkers, SSH, MC, Superman’s, selflove, Cherry pickers and Scorpion kicks.
    Bushwacker and Hogsbreath rolled in hot..
    YHC was able to finally keep the PAX on the newly completed sidewalk down to Monroe and zig zagged back through Mandeville and returning to AO.
    Lots of great chatter..

  • Fog at The Gipper…Weather and Brain – from Einstein

    Cool temps with some big time fog at The Gipper this morning.

    Warmup: toe touch, windmills, hi jack hi jills, side straddle hops, arm circles, swimmers. high knees, buttkicks, parker peters, side lunges, etc

    Thang: 3 sets of cinderblock work, each seperated by an non cinderblock event.
    block work – the usual…curls, presses, rows, overhead thrusts, farmer carry, rifle carry, big boy situps, skull crushers, squat thrusts, lunges, etc.
    set break 1 – speed skater walk for a city block then back peddle return
    set break 2 – mosey to the court house benches for B. split squats, step ups, merkins

    Hammer prayed us out.

  • Two Kings and a Joker – from Russo

    Temp was below 40 for the entirety, what YHC feels is the last bit of cold weather we’ll see for a while, but I’ve been wrong before.

    Warmup – all IC 10x

    – SSHs
    – Arm circles
    – Toe touches
    – Cherry pickers
    – High knees
    – Self love

    Thang – Deck of Death (count and exercise based on card turned over)

    The deck provided the inspiration for the title: YHC the Joker was joined by two kings:

    (1) Steve – King of making it look easy. I don’t doubt that he struggles on occasion. But you’d never be able to tell it. Effortless floating from one to the next. Smirking the entire time.

    (2) Waterpik – King of Form and perfect execution. Flawless. Even the most demanding judge is mystified by the way he fully executes. No shortcuts. Watch him jump squat. While YHC is struggling to get down to a 135 degree angle, he’s headed all of the way down and back up. Amazing.

    Back to the deck, we split the deck into 3 groups for rounds. Rounds included:
    Spades – durkins
    Clubs – freak nastys
    Diamonds – Bulgarian split squats (2 is 1)
    Hearts – leg raises

    Spades – shoulder tap merkins
    Clubs – calf raises (2 is 1)
    Diamonds – SMCs
    Hearts – Crunchy frogs

    Spades – step ups
    Clubs – Monkey Humpers
    Diamonds – jump squats
    Hearts – box cutters

    Before and between rounds, we moseyed around Granny’s to accumulate some mileage.

    A perfect morning. Cool. No wind and Dry. Thanks to a great Tabata timer Sunny and YHC got a good workout of 5 sets of SSH/Squats/Crunches/Bicycle crunches/Merkins/Box Cutters. :45 Exercise :30 Rest. Prayers for all in their endevors.

  • The Nashville Nasty in the war torn Gipper – from Jose10k

    YHC arrived to a very, very chilly Gipper. It was a disaster. Trash everywhere, beads everywhere, camping chairs all around, total wasteland. This is were I would love to insert a great GIF to paint y’all a picture of the Gipper. Steve’s right, we need to be able to add pictures and GIFS. Maybe even insert short youtube clips. I began a little prethang run (keep logging in those RunCajunRun miles) to arrive to see 5 others who took the red pill this morning. A little grumble grumble with Akbar for leaving me high and dry (figuratively) on Monday. However, imitation is the highest form of flattery. I decided to use his Nashville Nasty workout from Saturday on the Covington AARP crowd. Squat thruster, curls, rows, derkins, skull crushers, and world war 2 situps. 10 reps each, 1/4 mile run, 11 reps each, 1/4 mile run, etc…Modifications were made, coupons were destroyed, extended laps to log in for RunCajunRun miles were made. I can’t wait for February to be over. COT, Akbar prayed us out. Intentions: Turbo dog is getting a pedicure today. My wife and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary of our 1st date today.
