  • Some are twice the men of others at the Gipper!

QIC arrived at the AO with the welcoming of 2 PAX. Turbo and Einstein who are just as loyal as the Ronald Reagan statue, which stands at attention welcoming all who journey to the home we call the Gipper on Wednesday gloom’s.. The sound of gravel and the closing of doors soon produce 3 more men. Low and behold it’s the Ocho arriving with an (FNG), soon to be named twice the man of his own stature. Welcome to the PAX Sweet Sixteen. Not sure how the Maverick times it out so perfectly, maybe he has an app for the timing of the row of lights on 190 that always seem to slow the QIC for his arrival. The high humidity would soon be assisting on this beatdown with perspiration to make the QIC look like a fitness guru.. Enough rambling, quick disclaimer so let’s get after it..

    warmarama

15 IC GM, 5 Burpees, 15 IC WM, 5 Burpees, 15 IC Overhead hand claps, 5 Burpees, 15 IC Armcircles F/B, 5 Burpees, 15 IC IW, 5 Burpees.

  • Back in the Saddle…

So after a sun-filled week in Orlando with the M and 2.0’s,YHC was ready to get back to the regular beatdown with his F3 brothers.  So much so, that we even suspended the no-burpee Monday rule.  Apparently one week of no burpees equals a burpee pyramid.  After disclaimer 16 PAX moseyed to kickball field in front of Audubon Zoo for:

    Warm Up

    • SSH X 20 IC
    • Forward Arm Circles X 20 IC
    • Windmills X 20 IC
    • Reverse Arm Circles X 20 IC
    • Imperial Walkers X 20 IC

Next we moseyed to Soccer Field for Thang 1

    Four Corners/BOMB

    • First Corner 5 Burpees
    • Carioca to Second Corner for 10 OH Presses
    • Crab Crawl to Third Corner for 15 Merkins
    • Backward Run to Fourth Corner for  20 Big Boy Sit Ups
    • Crab Crawl to Beginning.

    All of the above OYO

Because that was so much fun, rinse and repeat!

Next we moseyed to Audubon Statue for Thang 2, a little DORA

Partnered up as 1 PAX ran other completed:

    • 100 Derkins
    • 200 Squat Jumps
    • 300 LBC’s

And just as Medulla Oblongata thought we were done “But wait there’s more!”

Moseyed to Oak Alley for Thang 3, Burpee Pyramid

    • Starting at first light one burpee with one merkin
    • Run to second light for 2 burpees with two merkins on each burpee
    • Run to third light for 3 burpees with 3 merkins on each burpee
    • Run to fourth light for 4 burpees with 4 merkins on each burpee
    • Run to fifth light for 5 burpees with 5 merkins on each burpee

For those mathematicians, that’s 55 merkins and 15 burpees for the PAX who completed.

As we were running out of time, we cut burpee pyramid short and moseyed back to flag.  And because we had one minute left, 10 Nolan Ryans each side OYO.

Count-off, Name-o-rama with one FNG, who PAX named Peaches as he is from Atlanta, went to UGA and we thought 28-3 would be too harsh.  Announcements and COT/Prayer.

Thanks to PAX for letting me lead.  Truly grateful for this group of men and F3.

  • Going The Distance, Trying For Speed

Four of F3’s finest made their way to The Stomp for the usual Tuesday running fix.  Pleasant 60-something degree temp and crisp air set the stage for a good moseying conditions so we all agreed we’d go for distance this am.  We were also hoping to inch our way out of last place in the RRR throwdown this month since we’d rather not get beat by those inferior guys from abroad.  The Q slot was empty so a round of eenie meenie miney mo decided who would officialy take the lead and it somehow landed on YHC.  The route was the typical course along the bayou, out and back in 45 min.  We came out the gate with a brisk pace, soon to be throttled down after realizing we still had a ways to go.  T-claps to Hawg for pushing through with a solid run on the heels of a 7+ hour, 31 mile race on Saturday that would have the average Joe still laid up recovering.  Some good F2 was had along the run that included solving a few of the world’s problems.  The PAX covered 4.5+/- miles and conveniently made it back with no time for burpees.

Great way to start the day.

    Tool

  • Friday is great day for DownPainMents

Get after YHC, cuz he’s waiting too long to post back blasts and now can’t remember squat–other than it was achy.  So after a disclaimer, THE THANG.

Warm up with some SSHs, Low Slow Squats, Slow Sun Gods, and surely someone on our faces.

Then gets some rocks to mosey to the bleachers for:

    • Bench Presses 20xIC
    • Squats 20xIC
    • Dead Lifts 20xIC
    • Curls 20xIC

Rinse and repeat with 15xIC, then 10xIC and finally 5xIC.

Saunter to the fence for some people’s chair–some times with rocks, some times without.  Holding your rock out in front for more than a few seconds sux big time.

Circle of Mary: lots of stuff with and without rocks.  [Putins with rocks is of course a favorite of YHC.]  Close out with 10 burpees.

Countoff, Namorama and COT.  Thanks, JV

  • February’s short so get at it

YHC can’t remember much of that day, except that it was coolish.  After a Warm-up around the fountain, the PAX moseyed to breakfront for some suicides with the 8 planters: one inclined merkin at the first planter, and one burpee at the start; then two IMs at the second planter and two burpees at the start; etc. to 8 and 8 with a dead YHC.

Mosey to the House of Pain for a short circuit of levee chase with five burpees at the top for PAX1, Catalina Winemixers for PAX2, step-ups for PAX3 and pull-ups for PAX4.  Although YHC had intended to rinse and repeat at least one more time, the PAX apparently was disturbing an amorous couple in a hammock near the House of Pain, so the PAX moseyed on after the first round to the Land of H8.

Although YHC can’t remember exactly, it involved running up and down with some exercise in between.  Duh…

Then a mosey back to the flag for a Circle of Mary, Countoff, Name-O-Rama, and COT.  Sorry for the sketchy memory, JV

  • Is that Love in the Air? No, it’s duck s**t.

Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day don’t coincide very often.  It’s a confusing mash-up.  What to do?  After the Disclaimer, THE THANG:

    • Low Slow Squats 25xIC
    • Frankensteins 25xIC

Mosey about a quarter of the way around the park counterclockwise, for a Ring of Fire: bear crawl counterclockwise (avoiding the duck greetings), then the PAX do 7 merkins each around the circle; then more bear crawls counterclockwise (avoid the light pole!), then big boy situps 10xIC.

Continue moseying to the front of the park at the fountain:

    • merkins AMRAP
    • squats AMRAP

Mosey across the golf course for a wrap-up with Countoff, Name-O-Rama and COT for Lent and Valentine’s Day.  Thanks for letting old timers be the Q, Jingle Vader

  • Rock around the track

I arrived unusually early today (5 minutes) to get in a good stretch, and I was greeted with Bogey on his way out. Bogey, the QIC, got an email at 5:20am that his 9:30am flight got bumped up to 8:00am! So Bogey passed the Q, and his beat down plan, on to me. Not because I was qualified or talented, surely not, but because I was the first one there. Hawg arrived next, fresh off his 50K mountain run. That’s right folks, a 31-mile run up and down the hills of Arkansas. It only took him 7 hours 10 minutes to complete. (GASP!) The only thing I can do for 7 hours in a row is sleep. Congrats and Kudos, Hawg. A few more sauntered in, the usually disclaimer, and off we go.

Throughout our gloomy beat down in the fog, Rudy ran laps around Pontiff in marathon preparation.

We moseyed to the usual starting spot. Hawg took the lead for the warm-up COP.
    SSH x 30 IC
    Merkins x 15 IC

    J-Lo’s x 20 IC
Low slow squats x 15 IC
Arm circles x 10 forward, 10 backward IC
    Windmills x 10 IC

Next, grab a rock and mosey to the track. Begin the Bogey beat-down.
Run with rock 100 yards, leave the rock, and run 100 yards back to the starting point.
    8-count-body-builers x 20
Run to rock, carry next 100 yards, leave the rock, and run 200 yards back to the starting point.
    8-count-body-builders x 15
Run to rock, carry next 100 yards, leave the rock, and run 300 yards back to the starting point.
    8-count-body-builers x 10
Run to rock, carry next 100 yards, leave the rock, and run 400 yards back to the starting point.
    8-count-body-builers x 5

    Circle up for more rock.
Rock shoulder press x 10 IC
Rock biceps curls x 10 IC
    Rock rows x 10 IC
    Rock squats x 10 IC
Rock chest press x 10 IC
Rock flutter kicks x 20 IC
Rock shoulder press x 10 IC
Rock biceps curls x 10 IC
    Rock rows x 10 IC

Mosey back to the flag. Rudy joined us after his run. Count off, name-o-rama, announcements, special intections, and a prayer. We tried to do your proud Bogey!

  • Uptown Buttercups

It was a lovely morning for 20 men to meet in the gloom to grow and improve themselves.  DISCLAIMER!  Let’s mosey… circle up in front of the Tulane sign:

    -SSH x 30 IC

    -IW x 30 IC

    -Mt Climbers x 30 IC

-Arm Circles x 30 IC (ea dir)

    -J-Lo’s x 20 IC

Let’s head to the bottom of the mountain.  Column of twos and Indian Run to the top.  It’s time to bring 11’s back…we just don’t do them anymore.  On your own, run to the bottom of the incline, do 10 crossfit merkins, run back up and do 1 WWII sit-ups…run back down and do 9 crossfit merkins, run back up for 2 WWII sit-ups, and keep going until reversed.  After a couple of the young studs finished and planked, the rest of us stopped where we were and headed down the mountain to the lawn in front of touchdown Jesus for some Mary.

Plank Challenge: Front plank 1 minute, Low plank 30 secs, low plank left leg up 30 secs, low plank right leg up 30 secs, left arm up plank 30 secs, right arm up plank 30 secs, low plank 30 secs, front plank 1 minute.

HEY UPTOWN!  SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP!!!

  • Who Wants it. Earn it!!!

Well after EIEI getting me all excited about him and a unknowing Shooter Running an extra 6.2 after our regularly scheduled 10K. Only 4 of our Seal Team 6 showed up for the 10K Friday with Captain Sparkles setting an example getting there a few min. Early to get in an extra mile thinking some pax’s Running that extra 6.2 just might edge by in our map my run challenge. But with our regular no show master at work in his fart sack the lead is safe for now! With two pax Shooter & Bushwacker staying to put in an extra mile or so made me proud to see them not settle for what was on the schedule and having an appetite for more puts a smile on my face. After our long time joking about the F3NORTHSHORE having a
Seal Team 6 I figured let’s put some names to this face. So at the end of our Run Ranger Run month and it benefiting our Veterans there is no better time. So put the work in and do something above average to get named in our elite
Seal Team 6 for the Northshore.

Ok for the start of our day.
Countoroma, Captain Sparkles leading us in prayer then heading out for the oh so well known journey to sunset point and back. 6.2 miles complete.

  • Credit Due!

Better late than never on the backblast but between the Friday before Mardi Gras and today I had to reconnect some neurons.  But it was said Friday when 11 strong kicked the weekend off right.  We were short some rolling Elvi, Muses groupies, and flambeau carriers but those that showed were rewarded with a beatdown.

Granted it had been a while since I q’d so naturally I forgot this disclaimer and promptly warmed up with 20 merkins IC.

Mosey to St. Charles and Walnut for BLIMPS on St. Charles (F3 PR). Brought us to in front of Holy Name.  Encountered some displaced (ie lost) Navy ROTC students looking for another Seaman but we had to disappoint.  We did point them in the right direction.

Mosey through Loyola to Tulane quad (plenty of Seaman here) (an ROTC breakfast perhaps) for some 4 corner abs. Russian twist x 30, LBCs x 30, LBT x 30, WW2 sit-ups x 20. Plank and wait in the center.

3 peak challenge commenced: Mosey to Yulman garage and Mosey to the peak on your own pace down the stairs.  Long Indian run down Calhoun to Loyola Rec garage.  Indian run to the top and Kong ran like he was being chased- he was – so the pace was aggressive. Down the stairs and Mosey to Wolfpack mountain.  Indian run to the top with a lot of heavy breathing.  Down the stairs and hustle to the flag!  3 minutes overdue but a good 4 mile run once it was all done!

Count off, name o rama, and intentions. Ball of man with prayers for a safe and fun Mardi Gras.
