  • Are we just going to do warmup exercises?

Your QIC started the morning with an explanation of what the Milestone Marsh would entail. Simply planned just 8 simple exercises done Tabata style. For those less inclined to google or lookup what it means, let me splain.. 20 sec of  work at 100% followed by 10 sec of rest R/R 8x  followed by a 1 min rest at the completion of each exercise. So total in all 5 min dedicated to each exercise with 2min and 40 seconds of actual work, Grundy check the math as you know I tend to exaggerate at times :). See splaining can be easy sometimes.

    Tabata begin

First exercise the SSH, remember guys 100% so by round 8 the calves are feeling it. Second IW, at this point Turtle begins to think we are just warming up, which technically we are however your QIC knew that would be short lived as we took to plank with the third exercise the MC.. With perspiration hitting the court and  heart rates increased let the groaning begin with the Merkin for number four.. This proved to be extremely taxing as the PAX began grunting, spitting, moaning, etc. many of the PAX including the QIC had to modify with the knees on the court to finish ripping out the rest of the set.. Let’s hit the jungle gym to do some pull-ups for number five or should I say Australian modifiers (brutal at this point).. However, would an exercise have any fulfillment without the Burpee, but of course not set six. Steve and Grundy great job blowing through the Burps!! No workout is complete until we touch all muscle groups gentleman.. Number seven the squat, no half squat ladies full 90 degrees deep on the heels head held high chest in front. And last but not least we closed out with the BK, great high pace to complete with the heart rate pumping..

Thank you brothers for allowing me to lead and start the week off right with a workout..

  • The Sweet Sweaty Scramble

5 PAX plus your QIC embarked on this thick Gloom to bring some added moisture to the Northshore Scramble. Someone call the Mandeville public works department and let them know we will be adding some moisture to the asphalt, which will fill the storm drains… Wait do we have those on the Northshore? If so they may need to turn on the pumps!!!

    The thang

Began our journey across East Causeway approach along the regular route stopping at the Mandeville elementary parking lot. The pace setters (Butt Splice welcome back) joined in on some SSH to allow the stretching folks in the back to catch up and rejoin the PAX. Continued our journey through the neighborhood circle and down to sunset point. T-claps to Turtle for achieving his goal of not stopping through the Scramble on this Gloom. Upon return we joined in for some more SSH. Once everyone was accounted for with 10 mins remaining we Moseyed over to the monkey bars for a series of 6,5,4,3,2,1 pull-ups with 10 Merkins in between each number. Total 21 pull-ups and 60 Merkins OYO.

    Countarama, announcements, COT

T-claps to Sea Bass, Turtle (VQ) 8/31  and Ocho stepping up to Q the next 3 weeks..

Appreciate my F3 brothers allowing me to lead this morning, see you Saturday..

  • The RETURN

Returning to the Gipper after a week hiatus in the Caribbean your YHC decided to make the PAX indulge him in working double time through this beat down. Buffets and umbrella drinks had consumed the previous week and were no longer in sight, as that ship had set sail and the Return of reality and getting back to work with my F3 brothers was much needed and appreciated. Let’s get to it..

QIC quickly learned that Grundy and Tanked up (Logan) would prove to be the over achievers on this beautiful Gloom. Kudos to all PAX!! As this proved to be quite the challenge.. Moseyed to the parking garage for a modified Four Corner Escalation  (Ramp escalator). Started with 10 Burpees and a Mosey up the ramp, at the tip 10 Burpees 20 Shoulder taps, moseyed to the second ramp 10 Burpees 20 shoulder taps 30 mountain climbers, moseyed to the top for completion with 10 Burpees, 20 ST, 30 MC and 40 SSH… Moseyed to the courthouse benches where we partnered up for a series of 20 squats at the bottom then up the stairs with 20 LBCs at the top. R/R 2x while others with there lightning speed (Grundy, Einstein, Turbo and Tanked up) R\R more than the QIC cares to count. Made the Q realize how bad the buffets and umbrella drinks had really slowed his pace 😩.. Journeyed back for some wrapup Mary 15 IC FK, 15 IC FM and 15 IC Hello Dollys..

  • The Modifier at the Trailhead

As the title suggest this Gloom would prove to be a day of Modification. As we circled up to begin with our warmup the shadows produce a late arrival it’s a bird, it’s a plane nah it’s Grundy shoes and all..

    the thang

The PAX began our Mosey over to the Milestone Marsh site for some court action. The YHC picked an exercise called the “Bearbees” with an aggressive number of 20 being the goal. And so with horrible math skills the Q tells the PAX of 6 that it should equal to 120 as a group. Shortly in realizing that the YHC spoke one way and demonstrated another that number was quickly modified. 1 Burpee bearcrawl (1,2,3,4) 2 Burpees bear crawl (1,2,3,4) the PAX started at 1 each time 😩 you get the idea so the 20 initially set turned into the PAX getting to round 14,which if my math is correct (double check me Grundy) that would be 105 Burpees per man x 6 =630 total then finished with a Bearcrawl last half of court. Steve being the hidden ninja that he his would have completed, however the YHC felt the need to save the PAX (most importantly himself). Once complete began to Mosey back to Trailhead for a game of “Black Jack” the PAX split into 3 teams upon arrival and the series consisted of partner in wall squat while the other did 1 Merkin up the stairs for 20 Sister Mary Katherine’s  down partner the same and the next series 2 Merkins upstairs 19 SMKs YHC didn’t account for the time this would take so realizing the clock was our enemy we made yet another modification stoping at 7 Merkins and 14 SMKs. Capt Sparkles made the suggestion to reverse the order with 3 min remaining so basically completed 9 rounds each. YHC will bring the Black jack to the table again with a modified method of execution for future Qs. Even with the modifications the PAX was taxed and trenched so in the Qs eye mission accomplished.

  • The Scramble Sprint #2

The PAX at the Scramble journeyed another new course on this Gloom from the Mandeville city hall. As we started our journey the YHC noticed a late arrival pulling in, to no surprise Sea Bass who is quite the regular at The Scramble exited the vehicle headlamp in the on position and quickly caught up to the PAX.

    The thang

    3.2 mile run.

2:00 min timed Mosey with intervals of 20 sec sprints in between at 100%. YHC can’t help but notice that we are making strides in our running abilities as most PAX are still able to mumble chatter with less restrictions in their wind pipes. Upon return we circled up for a little work in the parking area, which we noticed another PAX member had apparently arrived after we had left and proceeded to journey it alone (Ocho) down the standard route. Stop hitting the snooze Ocho we are on US time brother. (Compliments of 🐢)

  • Looking back on the day we turned 21

8 PAX converged on the Mandeville Trailhead to look back on what it was once like to be 21 again.. Aside from the all nighters, swollen mulligans and the “what did I do memory of the night before”  your YHC decided it was worth creating a memory of fatigue, sweat and memorable  beat down…

    the thang

Moseyed over to the David Treen center around the corner to bring back the love of 21!! At least the intention was there but soon enough the memories would fade and the perspiration would begin as if we were all being cooled down by a fire hose at an out door festival or concert. (Capt. Sparkles we may need a hose from the station.) Your YHC introduced the one and only thing the PAX would  do this morning “Super 21.” It goes like this 1 Merkins 1 LBCs lap around, 2 Merkins 2 LBCs lap around. Sounds routine and most probably wondered is this it? Well then came the addition on number 7 to add MC, round 14 add PJ and finishing at 21 rounds.. Butt Splice, Grundy (OA) and Steve (welcome back brother) showed there animalistic abilities and went to town eventually lapping your YHC. The YHC pushed along with the rest of the PAX and enjoyed hearing the mumble chatter as the intensity rose. Ocho, Turtle, The Manny and Capt. Sparkles all working extremely hard showing fatigue but never quitting..  In fact Capt. Sparkles finished at the flag with determination to get the 21… Great job guys!!

End result 236 Merkins, 236 LBCs, 210 MC, 140 PJ and roughly 2.52 miles (thanks Grundy) of Mosey around the center..

  • Mr. “T” at the Gipper

Mr. “T” at the Gipper? Say it ain’t so. “I pity the fool who shows up to the Gipper not expecting to get a good beat down and leave sweating and taxed!” 8 PAX members converged on the Covington trailhead this Gloom to take on YHC and the letter “T”

    the thang

Moseyed to the old school yard to circle around Ole glory for the first “T” Triple check (Modified to Quad check this Gloom) split into 2 teams. One PAX  holds air chair, another planks, another does Merkins while the last member  makes 2 laps up and down the stairs and around the flag pole replacing each PAX until everyone experienced each station of work. Moseyed to the parking garage for the second “T” Triple Nickle 5/5/5 First group at top     working core while the bottom working endurance. Top (Thanks for the modify Grundy) (IC 5MC5PeterP5ParkerP5LlankJ5ShoulderT)     Bottom (IC 5SSH5IW5SealJ5ToeT5Knee jumps) Sprints in between up and down ramp. RR 5x. Top PAX group (overachievers) turned it into a race and finished early so the YHC sent them on a lagniappe Mosey around the parking garage while the rest of the PAX completed.. This crew strives for more every workout (love it).. Moseyed to the court house for third “T” of the Gloom “The Coo” (modified to half because of time) started by the benches with 5 Burpees, 5 Squats, 5 Merkins sprint up the stairs catching each one of course to the top and descended order 4,3,2,1 (great pace Turbo) The  YHC realizing we had time remaining challenged the PAX to RR at which of course they obliged. Moseyed back to the flag for announcements, count o Rama, COT.

Great job Gipper PAX!! (Stronger each time)

  • Humid Heavy Scramble #1

This July Gloom would be known as the Humid Heavy #1!! 6 PAX embarked on the Mandeville city hall for a morning of saturation from perspiration. We started with a Mosey to the routine stretch point across the East Causeway approach to the Community center. Leg scissors one way and lunge twist back. We started the lesson Moseying for 3 min followed by 20 second all out sprints at 100%. RR the whole journey which turned out to be 7 sprints based on our pace. The YHC goal for the PAX is to at least get 10 so we will modify the time next week possible 2 min then followed with the 20 sec burst. All PAX were drenched upon return so we stretched it out, announcements, circle of trust.

  • Scramble (Week #6)

6  Northshore PAX converged on the Mandeville city hall for the final week of “The Chewy Challenge!” With the PAX in agreement we have decided to mix up the routine of a 3.2 mile run with some sprint action (5 series of 400 meters) to raise that heart rate for a great cardio boost.

    The thang

Moseyed across the East Causeway approach to the community center for a little stretch. Proceeded down south toward Sunset point incorporating the 400 meter sprints 5x by the point of return to the City hall. Seabass had a great observation that each PAX member seemed to take the lead on one of the sprints,  which shows the strength of the PAX is emerging and where some may have been weak are surly getting stronger.  With 10 min to spare upon return we stretched it out, circled up for count and namarama, prayed out and beat the downpour..

  • The Gipper

I am sure every Q has experienced the moment when he thought for sure the beat down they were providing would cause a tapout of some sort right? Well once again as your YHC leading the Gipper crew quickly realized that would not be the case on this wonderful Gloom!!

    the thang

Moseyed over to the old school for our first adventure called the Dirty dozen. This consisted of 12 Merks, 12 Squats, 12 mountain climbers followed by a run around the building. 4x RR. Q quickly determined the over achievers (Backdraft and Blackbird) great job guys!! Modify however does not mean lapping your Q :), thanks for exposing where I need to get better :(!! When done moseyed to the justice center. Upon arrival YHC decided to split the PAX  and get in some Burpees so we back pedal sprinted up the ramp halfway turning to a full on sprint to second level where we completed 5 burpees each then RR to the top.  (Total 80 Burpees)  At the top we embarked on the Four Corners routine. First corner real man Merks 10, 2nd corner 20 lunges, 3rd corner 30 squats and 4th corner 40 SMK (Sister Mary Katherine) and then we  descended the order in reverse. When complete we headed back to finish with 25 full extension sit-ups. Announcements/prayer.

    Great job PAX!!
