  • Cold front at the Cove!!

Arrived to the AO with sights of Steve coming in from Lakeshore Drive. YHC surly needed to see another PAX to spark motivation on this in between Gloom of sorts. F3 has changed the YHC sleeping pattern of sorts to where now the internal clock refuses to allow one to over sleep and Fartsack even though it would be truly welcoming at times.. As we begin to chatter, the sighting of an original Cove member turns in hot jumping out ready to get some road work in at this 0445 Post.. Welcome back EiEi, as with tradition we count first, COT and begin our journey. Along the way with great chatter, EiEi mentions the cool front of sorts, which was experienced at the Scramble the day before midway between the Lake and Monroe street. Would the PAX have yet another cooling experience yet again? Sure hope so, because the winds a blowing from the south are sure heavy and humid as the warm record heat of this week have overly saturated the Q at all Post thus far.. As we get to the end of the lakefront headlights beaming at our backs I wonder if someone is lost on this Gloom.  There is rarely a sighting of vehicles at this early post and especially at the end of the turn around. Wait that’s Hollywood Captain Sparkles checking in on his Cove crew rolling in from an all night screening of a movie production. With influence from EiEi to park that truck and join the PAX Captain quickly salutes and begins his journey homeward bound.. Good to know you thought of checking in on us though Capt. See you on the next one.. Journeyed on and as expected upon heading North we experience a cooling of sorts. We complete our route in a respectable time of 8:50 pace or so according to Steve and say are farewells..

Appreciate the fellowship and run with you men this morning!!

✌🏻 Until the next Post my brothers!!

  • to be continued…..

Instruction received from a previous email posted by Northshore core Turbo who by the way will probably post a .5 on the ISI for his pre thang run sparked this Q to dive into the Lexicon in preparation for the Gipper beatdown. Had I known the astronomy lesson would incur upon arrival at the Gipper, one may have looked into the galaxy of workouts awarded your YHC and properly planned out the parameter of time before becoming overly zealous in the selection process. The Q and Steve were greeted by a St. Tammany worker gazing into the night sky, which he quickly pointed out Jupiter in the distance between trees followed by 10 o’clock of the moon and some other (forgotten named planet) closing with a lesson of seeing Saturn with binoculars on a clear night.. That is the extent of my learned lesson of astronomy. Anything further than that may I recommend a post at the Gipper.. With 4 ideas picked out for the beatdown, 0600 quickly approaching and the sound of gravel turning beneath Grundy’s mini wagon it’s time to circle up.

    Warmup

15IC Windmills, 15 IC plank hand in front rotations right/left (to prepare for this upper body intense planned beatdown), 10IC front deltoid shoulder rolls in plank, 20IC Toe touches

    thang

Moseyed to the back of the Taj Mahal for are first set. Dan Taylor’s 1:4 ratio of squat and alternating leg lunges. Setting the bar at 20:80 total the Q was quickly reminded by the ever specific Grundy that this was indeed NOT upper body.. Oh so correct Grundy! 20 would have certainly taken to long and so to be continued… has started. We completed 10:40 and proceeded to the flag pole in front where we partnered up for some 4×4’s. PAX keeps elevated palms to the sky while one of the pairs drops to plank for 4 Merkins followed by 4 MC. Upon return to their feet the next pair drops so on and so on. We make 4-5 rounds in total, Q has never claimed to be accurate with numbers that is Grundy’s deal anyway.. 😏 Upon completion we journey to the top of the parking garage for a distant, often, planned and forgotten Deck of Death.. My memory serves best of Glooms past at the Mothership, Marsh and ISI challenge of October 2017, which shall never be forgotten as the “I want to pump your chest until your pectorals bust those already tight shirts.” Instructions Hearts are Burpees, Spades are Merkins, Clubs are FK and Diamonds are sprints… Cards are face value with Jacks being 11 Queen being 12, etc. etc. with 2 jokers valued at 50 and the person who flips calling the exercise. Thanks Grundy for the continued upper body tear down with IC shoulder taps so what should have been 50 total turned into 50 each side 😩. After about 3 cards in the PAX welcomes in the baton carting Maverick, realizing time will become a factor we push to 0640 at which time the YHC informs the PAX of bad news and our

    to be continued…

Moseyed back to AO with a min to spare and assume plank for completion..

    Nice job today men!!

Keep pushing Moby, progressing well Brother..

    Till the next Gloom ✌🏻

  • Rain with Pain

With the forecast of rain ☔, I arrived suspecting  a lite post from F3 Northshore. Standing at the flag an unfamiliar vehicle arrives, which I have not seen in Scrambles past. As Chewy arrives to the post the unfamiliar pilot exits the vehicle and introduces himself. Always appreciative of a new face at the AO and hope it’s just the beginning of fellowshiping with another F3 Brother for post to come. Welcome to your first Scramble Sprocket. YHC knew there was another man in route to posting, so we mumble chattered and awaited the arrival of a cart wheeling Bushwacker. The Scramble and the excitement in which it brings always seems to effect us differently. Even IBS couldn’t stop this beatdown from going down, much less a little rain in the forecast… With all men accounted for we begin with a warmup of 15IC Toe touches, 15IC SSH, 15IC Windmills and 15IC Seal Jacks. Began our Mosey of 3.200 or 3.075 miles depending on who’s tracking. Bushwacker feels vindicated this week with the ability to run through the gazebo, so much so that a R/R upon the return was fitting. It’s those little things that bring us out in the Gloom to post or the accountability of passing up yet another piece of litter for 2 weeks in a row now and being called out on it… Work in progress here my friend!! Returning at the AO, Q had plans for the creative dice of doom which were recently introduced at the Scramble for redemption of the previous 50 Burpee roll. With not enough time permitting as YHCs warmup took longer than expected we will save redemption for another day. Finish up with 10IC Sumo Squats, 10IC Merkins and finally we wrap up with 10IC Alternating leg lunges. The remnance of leg pain from previous beatdowns and the rain drops put the PAX into quick count mode and abbreviated announcements.

Appreciate Sprocket for the lead in prayer!!

See you men at the next AO✌🏼✌🏼

  • Was that supposed to be fun?

Arrived at the Marsh still feeling the effects of Chewys “Easy beatdown?” I will remind him of the NOT in that one on Tuesday. Out of the dark 3 PAX come rolling in, as if trying to synchronize their arrival like Olympic dancers in the pool. Chatter quickly fills the air as we circle up at mid court reminiscing of activities experienced over the weekend. Bushwacker sharing stories of himself and Big Tuna EHing F3 cub scouts on a recent camp out. Waterpik sharing a recent overtime defeat with his 2.0, to what sounds like a semi pro soccer club out of NOLA. “May we see some ID please?” All though your YHC could have chosen to stay in the coffateria like experience of chatter, I know that’s not what these brothers rubbed the crustaceans from their eyes on this Gloom, so let’s have some fun..

    warmup

    20IC TT

    20IC Lawn mowers

    20 IC SSH

    20 IC SJ

20 IC total top shelf put ups grabbing the imaginary box and shelving, which brought the chuckles out of Bushwacker.

    20 IC BK

    thang

Lined up on baseline for bunny hop Burpees to the other baseline concluding with 20 Merkins OYO. R/R

Next we did 90 degree jump squats front/left/right sprint to free throw, half court, free throw and baseline performing jump squats at each before back pedaling from each.

Suicide bear crawl next returning with a crabwalk. At this point the QIC acknowledged the PAX as being overachievers as they waited my return in last.

Taken it to the streets for four corners. We moseyed to first corner completing 8 count body builders OYO to 10, next corner Sister Mary Catherine’s to 20, third corner FK IC to 30 and upon return completing 40 Merkins OYO.

The Marsh would not be complete without utilizing the play ground equipment awarded us from the great City of Mandeville. Partnered up for 3 sets of pull-ups (10) while other 2 PAX held plank switching out til completion.

4 Mins remaining we took to our six for 20 IC Freddie Mercuries, 20 IC Hello Dolly’s and finished with 30 sec of ISI LBCs.

    count off, announcements, COT

Thanks to Waterpik for praying us out!!

Great start to the week my F3 brothers, appreciate the lead!!

  • Get er done

With the Q awakening to the illumination of a text from a fellow F3 Brother letting him know he had to rescind the hard commit previously given at the Scramble.. YHC began his journey to the Cove in hopes that the other soft commit of a might from Waterpik the previous day would not come to fruition. Well as we know from past experience the accountability of another F3 Brother always challenges this man to just “Get er done!”

Waterpik jumped out excited talking about the Pels playoff 3-0 run. Quickly inspired the YHC who had previously been talking to himself  in the car about all the reasons not to get out and run should he not have rolled up and how he would return  to the sack and do it later. HaHa NOT!!  As we all know that usually never comes to pass. So hugh thanks to the Pik for showing and getting this QIC out of the stinking thinking. We journeyed our routine path completing our 6.2 with an avg pace of 8:35 which was improvement from last weeks 8:44. Upon completion we both agreed it felt slower but when there is great mumble chatter with another brother the time just seems to pass. We hit our six for the ISI challenge and wrapped up our beatdown.

Count, COD and the Pik prayed us out into the Gloom!!

Thank you for holding me accountable Waterpik and appreciate the chatter!!!

  • Two for Tuesday

Grandmothers house produced (2) F3 brothers on this Gloom. YHC and the Pelican arrived at the AO ready for a beatdown. Both had posted the previous day at the Marsh with a record setting number and the YHC thinking Grandmas House would possibly replicate the previous days showing Pelican and I lingered and chattered for a few, but with no hot wheels rolling in it was time to get started.. After all we must “respect the time” as some F3 brothers would say..

    warmup

    20IC SJ, 20IC WM, 20IC BK, 20IC Total AC (10 forward/reverse), 20 IC SSH

    Thang

Moseyed to the tunnel for a series of 75/150/225. Pelican started with the Burpees while the YHC journeyed down and backup picking up the count. Upon completion we jumped into the next count being Merkins 150 and finishing up with leg lunges 225. When finished we Moseyed over to the bus stop  which at this point the YHC heard the map my run of Pelican state 2 miles, so the tunnel gave the PAX an extra mile on the day. At the benches we did 15IC. Jump overs, 15 IC MC, 15IC Leg raises, 15IC FK and completed the ISI 1 min pulses. With 5 min to spare moseyed back to the flag for 15IC Left/Right Nolan Ryan’s and finished with 1 min plank hold..

2 count (that was tough😬), announcements, COT (not sure about this one 🤔 with two)

Q prayed us out into the day!

Appreciate the post Pelican and the opportunity to lead, two is better than one any day my brother!!

  • Detours come in many ways at the Scramble

The Scramble produced a multitude of Detours on this Gloom. Two of these Detours would be produced by a single PAX member named Bushwacker. Upon his arrival the QIC and Waterpik were welcomed by him exiting is vehicle in what seemed to be LIME green Yoga pants or may be better explained as Leotards. Either choice would lead one to think he reached into the Ms wardrobe without proper lighting, but truth be told the QIC later learned they were closely monitored from shelf to clearance awaiting to be purchased. With close consideration one could only associate the seen with safety for the PAX as we make our journey down dark roads and the iridescence glow would prove as a reflective protection along our path.

    to be continued…

    warmup

15 IC GM, 15 IC TT and a simple stretch of palms to the ground.

    the thang

Began our journey down the standard route with chatter of the upcoming Convergence on Saturday. Quickly into the Mosey we see heavy equipment across the roadway to Sunset point. The Q is tasked with considering a different route? Or should we proceed as trespassers of a construction site? Well of course we know nothing is out of the question with this crew. So we proceed our entry toward a massive excavator with decisions of choosing left or right. Q hears chatter from Pik about going left but instead YHC  decided otherwise and thankfully so because left would have been reminiscent of a recent Tough Mudder event through drainage pipe.. We get across on a narrow piece of earth to continue our journey. We get to the pier and proceed back when yet another Detour would be presented to the Q. Bushwacker has to make a pit stop at a plastic disposal site better known as a Porta Jon. With keeping with no man left behind YHC and Waterpik interrupt the run by knocking out 30 IC SSH, 20 IC Slow Merkins and wrapping up with 15 IC WM. Rejoined by our Leprechaun we continue to the finish line with 5 to spare. We hit our 6 for the ISI of  2 min hundreds and complete the beatdown..

    Countarama, annoucarama, COD

Thanks to Waterpik for praying us out!!

Enjoyed the journey and fellowship with you fine men no matter what the attire may be!!

    Appreciate the lead

  • Hopping at the Gipper!

4 PAX converged on the Gipper for a hopping good time. QIC arrived with Steve at the AO with Turbo actively trying to stake the shovel in the ground or maybe he was trying to break ground to hide Easter eggs for the upcoming holiday. Either way, the earth was providing resistance and after multiple attempts the flag was placed as the group began to chatter. With Einstein arriving shortly there after the time had come to HOP to it..

    warmarama

15IC WM, 15IC GM, 30IC SSH, 30IC ToeTouches, Forward/Reverse 10IC ArmCircles and R/R with bigger revolutions, completed warmup with 30IC SJ.

Moseyed to the Taj for some balboa’s for 45 sec followed by a bunny hop across the parking lot into in/out jump squats to 10 with lunge walk back for a R/R this time intensifying every 10 secs on the balboa’s. Journeyed to the front by the flag pole where we did an animal series. Everyone started on the outer circle and bear crawled to the pole and back while one pax member sprinted to the steps. Upon arriving bunny hopped up one side and jogged down the next replacing each PAX till everyone completed. Next the PAX Duck walked while to the pole and back while a man took to the steps extending up backwards with a lunge. Finally we crabbed walked while each man calf raised up and returned. YHC wanting to try and touch on all the available gifts of location at the Gipper took the PAX to the parking garage. We did a Burpee series at the bottom, 2x middle and top. 10 each totaling 40 in all when complete. Between each set we sprinted halfway forward and sprinted halfway backwards. Once at the top we took down the stairs to the justice center where we hit our six for AMRAP of the day. We partnered up, so while one did a min of American Hammers the other did a one min plank. Next we side planked Right/Left a min each side and then wrapped up with FK for a min. With 5 min left we returned to the flag. Closed the beatdown with Spider-Man Merkins to 10.

    Count off, announcements, COT

    Einstien prayed us out!

Appreciate the lead and always enjoy posting with the Gipper crew!!

  • “Hello Dolly!” or is it “Rosalita!”

YHC arrived with the return of Waterpik awaiting in the Gloom. Fresh off a trip to NY. We started some chatter about his experience while away. It appears there is a play named “Hello Dolly” that the pik and his M took in on there trip. All along one might think F3 had created the term or redefined its meaning of sorts, which the latter must certainly be correct. Simply put, I don’t think the play in NY was based on grown men laying on their backs and swinging out there legs in cadence. Although that may be appealing and theatrical in a place like NY. After all it is a big city with many different walks of life and one would never know what to expect or SWING into in such a place.. Maybe her name was “Rosalita!” Who really knows? Either way with Steve rolling up right on time, we get after it starting with a little warmup before our journey on this cool below 50 degree Gloom. 20 IC SSH, 10 IC GM, 20IC WM and 10IC Ws (chewy), which amount to what seems to be a reverse shrug compressing the upper back muscles. With headlights approaching the PAX is soon joined by the Choppa right before our departure.

    thang

QIC explains to the PAX that we will be incorporating intervals of 30 second burst starting at 20 percent, 30 percent, etc. etc. increasing through the run till the final burst. We went after it at 100 percent completing the last as a sprint to the finish.  Now it did feel fitting to skip the 90 percent since we started with the 20 instead of 10. So in all when complete we totaled 8 intervals. YHC quickly realized on the last interval that Waterpik runs similar to the shifting of a CVT transmission.  His pace just continued to climb with no shift point and no chance of getting passed with a passing gear applied by the Q.

    Nice finish Waterpik!!

Arriving with 15 to spare we head to the playground to tackle the ISI challenge of the day (1 min pull-ups) Upon completion we hit the deck for Spider man Merkins each leg totaling 10 in all. Then we take to our six for Mary. First we do hip raise hold better known as wife pleasers. Q implemented a 3 count hold at the top to 15. Next we did 15IC FK, 15IC Hello Dollies and closed with 15IC Rosalitas..

    count off, announcements, COT

Appreciate Choppa for taking us out in prayer!!

    Always enjoy the lead gentleman!

  • Marsh Madness!!!

With the beginning of the week and March madness tipping off on Thursday. The QIC arrived at the Marsh to the sights of 2 Cinderella hopefuls waiting at center court. Would either be selected by the NCAA committee for this weekends tournament? Or would they need to except another invitation to the CUSAP at the Tough Mudder on Saturday spearheaded by the Bushwacker? With the latter of the 2 choices clearly in their sights as well as mine we tipoff our training with the warmup..

    25IC SSH, 15IC WM, 25IC IW, 15IC GM, 25IC BK, 15 IC SJ

With the opportunity of slipping in as a number 16 seed the ISI challenge would prove the worthiness of one Steve rocking out 35 on this Gloom.. With Captain taking second and the QIC rounding out the PAX we all responded with a sigh of completion and reverence to Turbo for coming up with such great challenges… We began a Mosey down Lamarque to the lakefront. Arriving at the bulkhead we completed an upper body of 15IC Freak nasties, followed by 15IC Derkins and 15IC Erkins. Climbed on top the sea wall and Racoon crawled about 50 yards west. Next we focused on legs completing 10 step ups each leg, followed by 15 box jumps. Using the sea wall as a guide to a perfect 90 degree squat of 15 followed by right single leg squat 10IC back to regular squat 15, and completed left leg single 10IC. We then began our journey back up Marigny to the Marsh. Closing things up we completed 8 count bodybuildiers to 20 and then took to the six for Mary. 30IC flutter kicks, right single leg extension wife pleaser and left single leg wife pleaser wrapping up with 30IC flutter kicks..

    countoff, announcements, COT

Thanks to Captain for praying us out and Steve for the lessons of survival when supporting a fellow brother on a bachelor party.. Well done lads!!

    Appreciate the lead!
