…Why a little more Pi of course

conditions: upper 30s, mostly clear sky, wind calm, magnetic declination; -1.05 degrees

    disclaimer: I’m not a…..

    warm-up: side straddle hops 20xIC, good-mornings 20xIC, arm circles

for each set of 10 digits we did an exercises for each number in the set, then ran a lap around the deck for example:

    1st set:1 burpee,4 lunges,1 imperial walker,5 merkins,9 plankjacks,2 squats,6 rows,5 iron crosses,3 situps, 5 crunches

    run a lap

    2nd set:8 burpees,9 lunges,7 imperial walker,9 merkins,3 plankjacks,2 squats,3 rows,8 iron crosses,4 situps, 6 crunches

    Bushwacker (just-be-cuz) prays us out.

    Thanks guys. Fun as always.

    We sweated a lot.

    Maverick never arrived.

Everyone who missed it, should have been there.

We learned two new technical terms; fire hose and fire extinguisher.

I’ll pay someone to write my black blasts, if anyone’s interested.

  • WayBackBlast

    …like last Wednesday

Four pax posted at the Gipper early this past Wednesday. And a fifth pax posted, shortly thereafter, for his 35 minute workout.

While waiting for the six a.m.start bell, we wondered about California Steve. “It’s 4 a.m. out there”, Shooter remarked, “Steve is probably doing some pushups.”
Or maybe fartsacking and dreaming about riding his bike past the moon, or dreaming of running for Govenor of California…then on to the Presidency.
We’ll all vote for you Steve!

count-o-rama, Shooter lead us out with a prayer.

It’s always fun running around dowtown Covington, and thanks guys for letting me lead today.

And I apolgize for the late posting of the BackBlast. I’ve been busy sitting on the couch in my boxers eating a block of cheese and watching Netflix.

  • Little Humid Today?

yes… I saw the Gipper statue whip out his hankie and wipe the brow of his over-sized head
Guess the cool mornings are gone for the next five months or so.

Maverick leads us out with prayer.

Thanks guys, for another enjoyable start to the day.

  • I’d better get this backblast done before Turbo yells at me

Have you every felt like “Phil in the backseat of the Mirthmobile?”

Some of you young whippersnappers may not be familiar with Phil, if so, check out this link

So as the heavy weather plowed through Covington early Wednesday morning, it made me think of the lyrics from Bohemian Rhapsody…Thunder Bolt and Lighting very very frightening me….

anyways… with the inclement weather I had to ditch my workout plan and go with the Bohemian Rhapsody:

Bohemian:having informal and unconventional social habit

Rhapsody:episodic yet integrated, free flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, color, and tonality

Here is how it went in the steady rain:

Warmup: Side Straddle Hops,Squats, Arm Circles, Seal Jacks,Butt Kicks, Toe Touches, Speed-Skater Hops, all 20xIC, with plenty of merkins in between.

Mosey over to the parking garage for Hurdle and Plank fun-o-rama:

Each pax in plank position, spaced about 10 feet from each other. One jumps up and hurdles each of the planking pax, then assumes plank at the end of the line. Did this up the ramps to the upper deck.

Then we ran the stairwells up and down and around with a task (burpees, merkins, ditchdiggers, duckhops) in between each of the four roundtrips.

Then we did a few sets of sprints across the top deck and back. The rain was feeling good!

Then we did a slow meandering Indian run down the parking garage ramps & back to the flag.

A few minutes of mary: Nolan Ryans and flutter kicks.

Count-o-rama, announcements, and Astro leads us out with a prayer.

  • Good Ol’ Boys

Two PAX showed up on time, with a third PAX – Maverick, doing the best Dukes of Hazzard arrival, with a family vehicle, that I’ve ever seen.
…flying into the parking lot, shooting gravel everywhere, some of which bounced off the Gipper statue, leaving R.R.’s nice patina, speckled, like a cheap polka-dot suit.
Maverick “I’m here for the forty minute workout.”

Indeed… To the best of my recall, here is how it went:

    Short Disclaimer …

    warmup
    all 20xIC; side straddle hops,good-mornings,windmills,imperial walkers,toe touches,hillbillys,arm circles,single leg lunges,squats,mummy kicks

    mosey to Bedrock; pick up a 10 pounder or so;
all 15xIC; curls, overhead presses, rows, outward presses, elf on the shelf

mosey to the front of the Taj Mahal for the MERKIN MEMORIAL
here we have lots of brick pavers, each with a name and date,
one pax, at a time, bearcrawls in toward the flagpole to a brick, reads the name and the date, chooses an odd or an even number, if an odd number,  we all bearcrawl counter-clockwise that many paces and do that many merkins, if an even number we all bearcrawl clockwise that many paces and do that many merkins. A crowd pleaser!

mosey to the St.Tammany Parish Courthouse parking garage for sprints, backward lunges, and burpees.

Indian Run back to the trail head

count-o-rama, Moby Dick, on I.R., strolls up just in time to lead us out with a prayer.
