  • Tabata Time

After falling off the wagon for a few weeks YHC wasn’t sure he’d survive his own Q, much less be able to count out loud for 45 minutes.  What better solution than a tabata style workout! We did three rounds of each of the following sets, 45 seconds on, 15 seconds off, with 1 minute between rounds.

    • Right Leg Power Ups
    • Merkins
    • Left Leg Power Ups

    • Dips
    • Box Jumps
    • LBC’s

    • Derkins
    • People’s Chair
    • Carolina Dry Docks

We then circled up the grass for some traditional Mary:

    • LBT’s x 30
    • V Ups x20
    • Catalina Wine Mixer x 20

Back to the flag for the COT, welcomed a FNG, and closed out with a prayer of thanks for this group, of comfort for those in Houston and Florida, and that we would be lights in the world for Him. As always, a pleasure to lead.

  • Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

Six brave patriots gathered at Valley Forge (a gloomy Audubon Park) and braced themselves for the impending clash with the Redcoats (Beat Down) . First came the Declaration of Independence (Disclaimer) and we were off across the Delaware (through the Bag Drop and over to the Bandstand). The Battle of Bunker Hill (Warm Up) played out as follows:

    • SSH x 25
    • IW x twenty-something
    • Seal Jacks x twenty-something
    • Bulgarian Ball Busters x 20

Somewhat fatigued, yet eager to prove themselves the Continental Army (PAX) then faced the Battle of Saratoga (Oak Alley):

    • 11’s (from bollards to last lamp post)
      • Manmakers
      • LBT’s

In hindsight this should’ve been 13’s, one for each Colony. Nevertheless, on to Lexington and Concord (grass by the picnic table pavilion)!

    • Lexington (Tammy Wynette to 60)
    • Concord (Mary)
      • WWI Sit-Ups x 20
      • ABC’s
      • Reverse Crunches x 20
      • Catalina Wine Mixer x 10

Back to the flag for the Treaty of Paris (COT).

Thanks for the opportunity to George Washington (Q), and no taxation without representation (SYITG)!

  • Burp Back Mountain

This was going to be a good day. First, my good friend and EH’er (CAPS LOCK) was in town from Nashville and was pumped to post with us. Second, the gloom was uncharacteristically mild for June in the Big Easy. Then, upon arrival, I find out it’s 86’s birthday (44, which is going to take some getting used to). Jadeveon tried to ruin it by claiming the Q, but was kind enough to let me keep it.  Let’s mosey.

Over to the base of the mountain and start our climb by:

    • Sprinting the inclines and jogging the flats to Level 4
    • Back pedaling the inclines and jogging the flats from Level 4 to the top

Knock out AMRAP of Merkins while waiting on the 6, and then headed down to the bottom of the last incline to celebrate 86’s birthday. Seaman even sang to him:

    • Partner up, first partner runs up the incline and back down while the other does Burpees, then swap. Alternate until 86 total Burpees completed

Mosey down to the benches for:

    • Dips x 20
    • Right Leg Power Ups x 20
    • Left Leg Power Ups x 20
    • Derkins x 10
    • Shoulder Taps x 20

Then because “each man who is in F3 should consider himself willing and ready to lead” (or was it because YHC hadn’t made it this far in planning this workout) we circled up for some Potluck Mary:

    • Freddie Mercury x 10
    • Flutter Kicks x 10
    • Leg Lifts x 10
    • Sit Ups x 10
    • Freddie Mercury x 10
    • Peter Parker x 10
    • Parker Peter x 10
    • Box Cutters x 10
    • Right Hip Lifts x 10
    • Left Hip Lifts x 10
    • Dying Cockroach x 10
    • X’s and O’s x 10
    • American Hammer x 10
    • Penguins x 10
    • Pickle Pounders x 10
    • LBT x 10
    • Mission Impossible 10 40 count (thanks Rudy)

Quick pit stop at Touchdown Jesus for Curb Crawls, then back to the flag for the COT: Count-O-Rama, Name-O-Rama (welcomed one FNG and named him Aubie due to YHC’s love for his alma mater), Announce-O-Rama (Mothership is at The Birdcage/Skinny Saturday morning at 8 and the F3 founders, Dredd and OBT are posting), and Ball of Man.

Much obliged for the opportunity to lead. SYITG,

  • A Boy Named Sue

“He must have thought that it was quite a joke

And it got a lot of laughs from a lot of folks

It seems I’ve had to fight my whole life through…

But I made me a vow to the moon and stars

That I’d search the honky-tonks and bars

And kill that man who give me that awful name…”

For the record, I love my F3 name, but can’t help but identify with poor ol’ Sue every time we run through the Name-O-Rama. So when I got tapped for my VQ the only sure thing was that it would be a nod to the Man in Black. First the disclaimer…

“My name is Sue! How do you do!? Now you’re gonna die!”

Mosey over to the base of the Mountain for a little warm up

    • SSH x 20
    • Imperial Walkers x 20
    • Smurf Jacks x 20
    • Imperial Walker Squats x 20

Next we make two single file lines for an Indian Run to the top. At the top we circle up for a little Johnny Cash/Ring of Fire

    • PAX hold a plank, first man does 5 Merkins, then the next, then the next, until we’ve made it all the way around the circle

Back down to the bottom of the mountain where we again make two single file lines for an Indian Run back to the top. At the top we grab a spot on the wall for some more Johnny Cash/Ring of Fire… or let’s call this Walk the Line

    • PAX hold a People’s Chair, first man does 10 Monkey Humpers, then the next, etc., etc., until we’ve walked the whole line

Mosey down to Touchdown Jesus and line up for some Curb Crawls

    • Start in decline plank position with feet on the curb, knock out 15 Derkins, Bear Crawl to the opposite curb,15 Incline Merkins, Reverse Bear Crawl back to original position, 10 Derkins, Bear Crawl, 10 Incline Merkins, Reverse Bear Crawl, 5 Derkins, Bear Crawl, 5 Incline Merkins, Reverse Bear Crawl, and recover

Now let’s circle up for Mary in the style of…you guessed it, Johnny Cash!

    • PAX on their 6 holding legs at 6″, first man does 5 Crunchy Frogs, then the next, etc., etc., all the way around
    • PAX in plank position, first man does 10 Pickle Pounders, then the next, etc., etc., all the way around

Mosey back the the flag for the COT, Count Off, Name-O-Rama, Announce-O-Rama (Grow Ruck, Bar-A-Thon), and Ball of Man.

    “Son this world is rough

And if a man’s gonna make it he’s gotta be tough

And I knew I wouldn’t be there to help you along

So I give you that name and I said goodbye

I knew you’d have to get tough or die

And it’s that name that helped to make you strong…”

It was a privilege to lead you boys. SYITG,

    Buckle Bunny
